I installed a 3/5 drop kit on my 96 ranger. I am wondering what coil springs I can use to soften the front a little and possibly drop it another 1"-2". I have heard of people using some type of Jeep springs, but hell I just had to ask.

Best thing I would recomend would be changing the shocks and cutting the bump stops down to soften the ride out front.

As for the 1-2 in drop, I would suggest cutting your coils down that inch or 2.

But I thing you may end up running into some camber problems and unusual tire wear, but it can be done.

if you do cut your coils or buy a set lowered you really should buy a set of ball joint eccentrics. then you can run the drop coils also. they work on my friends 94 ranger with a 5/7 drop and i plan on doing the same to my truck before spring. the bump stop being shortened would also help and new shocks. remember you get what you pay for with the shocks.

Ok, so a lil more detail is in order. I have beams, shocks, and have cut down the snubbers. The kit I got was a 3/5 drop kit. It lowered the truck, but i want the front lower, kinda going for a raked look. I don't like cutting springs. It works, but I want everything looking clean on this truck. New Springs are in order anyway due to the lovely rust problem we hae here in the midwest.

Oh yeah, I got the eccentrics for the ball joints. They are adjustable 30 degrees, so I think i will be ok.

Yeah, I'll Put Pics Up As Soon As the front End Is Back Together. First Thing I Need Is Springs....... Hmmm, Wonder Where I Can Get Those? J/K But If Anyone Has Any Ideas Other Than Cutting The Coils, Let me Know PLEASE!!

Well beltech makes a 3in drop coil for the Ranger.

It may net you another inch on the drop, and it should settle a little bit more for you.

As far as ride quality, I have not ran them, but with the right shock combo and cut down bump stops you should be happy.

Thanks for the post!! I ordered the springs on Amazon for $120. Should be here in a few days. Now I just gotta get the rims powder coated, mount the fog lights, and summer weather here we come!! I owe ya a beer sometime!!:icon_cheers:
