Does anyone know if you have to get the lower intake manifold resurfaced to mate up perfectly with machined heads?

defined machined heads, is the intake port surfaced milled down for some reason or are the chambers milled down? or do you mean you port matched the intake ports and want to port the intake ports of the lower intake? you can port match the lower intake to the intake ports size of your heads w/ the same gasket you used for the heads.

if you deck the head or resurface, there is a formula for how much to take off the lower manifold. most times the manifold is not milled. but there are times you should

ok cool, the heads i bought shouldn't be machined any more than .0015. Oh rurouni i mean having the head to block mating surface resurfaced in theory brings the intake ports on the head lower than the ones on the manifold. No?

it does a lil but usually the gasket makes up for it. i mean unless you shaved like .375 off the head i wouldnt worry too much about it. id ask how far down they were milled (if they were at all) and go from there. most race style heads are just ported, milling down is usually custom ordered.

Most re-man heads are re-surfaced, not milled. Milling is used to take a large amount of metal off the head. When re-surfacing the head, it is simply moved across a grinding stone to remove enough metal to level the surface. The intake should not be affected.:)shady

if all they are taken off is .0015 don't waste your money the gasket will seal that. they usally take off .01

maybe im a decimal point off. If thats the case should I still be fine just slappin the intake back on?

u should be fine, like i said milled heads is custom ordered and you have to specify how far, if its just a resurface job its not enuff to worry about.
