Lotus

Ryan - yes, she's DOHC with variable valve timing, the lift intelligence is made possible by 2 lobes per valve set (both intake valves on each cylinder are operated by one lobe), a low lift lobe and a a high lift lobe. Its electronically controlled and hydraulically actuated. lots of very tiny moving parts :(

on another note, i won! :)

I wouldn't sweat those little parts. I worked at a Toyota dealership for about 3 years and only saw two solenoids fail and nothing else. The solenoids are not that expensive or hard to replace either.

that is very good news.

Did you ever talk to your friend with the Exige about where he sources brake parts?

Congrats on the win! Im really jealous I can wait till I have enough money saved to buy a car again.

He has some wholesaler in Buffalo that orders replacements from Brembo. Apparently brembo also has an extensive line of OE replacement parts.

Congrats!

I figured on something like that, gonna have to look at something to fully understand it though.

are you volunteering to help with engine work?

Doesn't yellow stuff or one of those companies make aftermarket performance brake pads and stuff?
As far as calipers and all, I worked for a wholesaler...... I wouldn't even know who the little men to buy them would be.
Why would they be failing though?

It seems regardless of the manufacturer a pair of pads are $100+ and rotors range from $250 on up to $400. The yellow stuff pads are $108 a pair.

I do believe his brake problem is a result of taking it to the track. something i wont be doing for a few years.

Jason - Do you know what tires he's running? I'm looking at Yokohama Advan ad48's as a replacement once i wear out the Kumho's on her now. It'd be nice to hear from a real person whether they're all they're cracked up to be.

I have no clue on the tires.

His brake problems aren't really problems either. You will go through brakes pushing anything to 100%. Calipers haven't needed replacing yet.

how about any intel on getting around the electronically controlled governor?

Get a wiring diagram......I'll get it. :icon_thumby:

I located the governor diagram in my EVMT for the Fazda, child's play.

So it'll be difficult but possible on a higher end car.

Tuners can get rid of that governor. The real fun on those isn't the high speed, but acceleration and of course the lack of need to slow down.

The lack of needing to slow down is what i'm most looking forward to

I turns out that a security deposit is pretty well useless these days. I'd already sent full payment, my bank told me it would take 3-5 days, the dealer was cool with that. then yesterday i found out someone walked on the lot and payed the sticker price of $28,995. Guess I'll have to try again :(
