Looking for performance Cam

I was looking at Comp Cams and they have a 268 High Energy cam i would really like to install. Would i need to do some head work or up the compression for that cam to work? Or can i just install it? I'm wanting a cam just above stock where it has a nice somewhat choppy idle but is very good for the street that won't require me to do a whole lot of work. Recommendations? It's also an 87 2.3 EFI 4 plug SOHC if that helps

You don't usually get the choppy idle on an EFI engine without doing some programing too.

I would call Comp and ask them these questions. I was thinking that was a Turbo cam, but I could be wrong? Also ask them about needing a custom tune like Adsm mentioned.

Bo-port.com is a supplier for many diff cams for the 2.3 also he has info on there you make like his stage 1 and 1.5 cam which are very "choppy" don't require head work

Ive never really heard of guys using bopart cams without boost. The 1, 1.1, and 1.5 are a smooth idle. You will also need to use his rockers with his cam. He also will not give you specs on his cams. I do know he was sick but i think he is better now so you may be able to get a hold of him.
