Looking for guys with regear experience

Hey are any of you comfortable with me sending you the mesh patterns on my 8.8 and dana 35. I just want another person to confirm that the pattern is good or bad.

actually I will first need the backlash specs for the 8.8 and all the torque ratings for the internals. I tried to look in the tech section but couldnt find it.

Hmmm... I guess Jim must be working on things still.

The 8.8" backlash spec is 0.008-0.015"
Pinion preload is 8-14 in-lbs (used bearings), 16-29in-lbs (new bearings)
Bearing caps = 70-85 ft-lbs
ring bolts = 70-85
(I think those are all the important ones)

When i did my 8.8 with Yukon gears, the pattern was best toward the smaller end of the backlash range. A smaller BL should be better anyway, as the BL tends to open up slightly when the gears are put under high torque. Break-in can take just a hair longer with smaller BLs though, I'd give it another half again as much time before putting any good loads on it.

great that is good to know. now junkie did you regear your own stuff or is there someone here that does this for a living cuz I would like to show someone these pics but need there email so I can attach them. They are too big of files to put on the forum and i want to keep them large

I did the gears myself, yes. I don't do it for a living though.

Thanks for the replys though and when the front comes I will post in this thresd if need be. also I just have a hard time readjusting the size and then using cardomain and then posting. A lot of it is in the quality of the gears. So far I've found Yukon to be pretty decent (I set some up in a buddy's Samurai and the pattern was almost as good also).
I wish my D35 Precision gears were just as good (coast side is more on the heel than I'd like), but it seems to be holding up fine, and isn't noisy that I can tell.

Thighman, Cardomain will automatically resize pics bigger than 575 pixels, so the most you should have to worry about is just cropping (trimming) them if needed.

Probably, but why chance it?
A tube of red is only $5 or so.

Hey Junkie, thats about the best pattern I could get on my 35 too. Mine was a little deeper.

And as for lock tight use red. Seen to many ring gear bolts back out.
