Look at what I got

I'm only doing the body work and the paint, the people who own it are cheap ba****ds, they brought the paint over the other day and I'm really NOT too happy with it:annoyed:, they bought the paint from Tractor Supply, I asked them about it and said " It's only 32 dollars a gallon, and the hardener is only 12 dollars a can":dunno: and on top of that they bought 2 gallons of beige paint, AND 2 gallons of clear AND they want me to spray ALL of the 4 gallons on this small car:shok:, I told them that was way too much paint, and the man said "The more paint on it the less chance that it can rust":dunno:, guess I should be happy that they didn't buy House paint and a roller :annoyed:

Hopefully to day the rain will pass by and I can get the engine pulled from the Explorer, and start cleaning it up.

Wonder where he came up with that theory? I had a 67 Chevelle with a ton of paint that rusted all to hell... Good luck on painting it... As a pro I wouldn't think of putting that stuff in my guns and spraying a car with it. Sounds like a bad idea all the way around.. Or I would demand cash payment up front with the understanding of it looks how it looks no if ands or buts...

Well, I'm using the car to practice my non-existence welding skills and body work skills, and they buy all the stuff I need, so far they have bought about 5 pounds of flux core welding wire, I know, I know, I should be using reg welding wire with shielding gas, but at the time all I had was the money to but the little welder I got. it's a Campbell Hausfeld 110volt welder, it been working pretty darn good so-far, for what it is, I wanted a Hobart that I could have later bout the kit to make a gas Mig, but it was beyond my means.

The guns I have are just some old cheapo's that my father-in-law bought at junk sales, so it's no worry's there.

It's just crazy to put that kind of paint on a Mustang... Hell the stuff I put on my truck isn't all that expensive but it will last for many years.... I did mine on the cheap too... Doesn't matter the type of welder you use just make sure you get good burn through.
In 1988 I worked at a ford Dealeship where we were welding with brass.... Crazy!!! They were too cheap to get us a mig!

I know it is, IF I had my way, and I don't, I would get the PPG stuff and read and learn how to put it down really purdy....you also have to look at it this way, these are the same people who sprayed it with House Primer, and House paint, using a Wagner Power Painter.

I did get more work done to the Ranger today, I didn't get the engine pulled from the Explorer yet. I'll post more pictures later.

Robert

More Pictures,

The rust was worst then I first had thought, that pad stuff Ford puts down does a good job at hiding the rust.

All the rust cut out and some cheap primer I had laying around.

More Rust to fix

I'm going to have to Weld me a new Nut under the brace so I can bolt my seat down, BUT I might wait to see where the Explorer Seats are going to bolt down first the weld a brace there.

88Ranger14.jpg

The passenger side wasn't all that bad, just a few small finger holes, after I took a wire wheel to it on a 4.5 side grinder, and sprayed some eching primer till I can get some good Por15 or something.

Well to day I got the bad transmission out of the Explorer, I'm going to tear it down to see why it only has reverse, I'm also going to put the good pump into another transmission that I have laying around that has a broken pump, and pray really really hard that it works.

I didn't get any pictures today, I'll get some tomorrow when I get the greasy, oily, dirty engine out and start cleaning it up.

I also have to pull all the rest of the A/C box out of the Explorer, and see what kind of hole I have to cut in the Ranger, I still have to cut the floor out of the Explorer and weld it in to the Ranger.

Robert

Well to day I got the 8.8 out of the Explorer and also dropped the fuel tank, I got the 7.5 out of the ranger to put in the Explorer so I'll be able to tow it to the scrapper.

Cool build! As far as the dash goes, I really hope mine is that clean behind the dash.

it's only clean after I took the power washer to it, I have some rust issues near the glass.

Today I got the bumpers off the Explorer, and also I got the Floor board cut out of the Explorer so I can put it in the Ranger.

I still can't believe how high the back is on the Explorer.

Robert

Well I got the Engine pulled finally :yahoo: and is that thing Dirty, Now I just have to clean it and save up to get a complete Gasket kit, well to the Pictures:yahoo:

88Ranger24.jpg

Cleaned my Rear end up with a Wire head on my side grinder, and painted it, I had to go the cheap way and use Rust-oleum black paint, the guy at the paint store asked me to sit down before he would tell me how much a can of POR 15 was, I knew it was high, but not as high as he said, also said that the Rust-oleum was the third best way to go, the second was still way to high. Don't hate me for cheeping out......:dunno:
88Ranger23.jpg

I read on here somewhere that if you wanted to put a A/C box where a non A/C box was you would have to cut out a big hole, well that isn't true, tank God:D
92Explorer12.jpg

Dang it Something is missing:icon_confused:

And here is a Bunch of Parts to clean and put in the Ranger

88Ranger25.jpg

Well, It's suppose to Rain tomorrow, SO I doubt I get any thing done tomorrow, BUT if I do I will take pictures :yahoo: Pictures..Pictures...:yahoo:

Look in great, love the progress, Keep it up!!!

I use Rustoleum too....I am cheap, but it is better than doing nothing.

I just got a little more to remove from the Explorer, then it's off to the scrapper next week, they are closed all this week, then I got some rust issues I have to take of on the Ranger.

Also update on the Mustang, the Grandson came to look at it, and didn't like the Color, so the tractor paint is out,:yahoo: He is going to get me a good Epoxy Primer,:yahoo: and then he is looking into the House of Kolors paint,:icon_confused: he wants to paint it a Mo-par Orange:icon_rofl: but it's his money so I'll paint it any color they want.:D

Thanks Guys for the Encouragement on the Ranger, it helps.

Robert

I use rustoleum and it holds up great! For the bigger projects I just make sure I get the brush on kind and make sure I put it on real thick and it holds up really well!
