just wondering if theres a fairly inexpensive long arm kit for a ranger or if theres a home brewed ones that are not to hard.

thanks dave,

Build them yourself if you have the welding and fab abilities.

Its cheap, you only need like 5 feet of 2x2 square .250 wall tube, and some misc 1/4" flat plate to make mounts.

Here's some pics of mine that I built.

Dang, I know it's been said, but Ryan your welds are a thing of beauty!

It all depends on your fabbing ability. If you don't have access to a welder to make your own, there's a relatively inexpensive kit by Stonecrusher that threads on to your existing radius arm, then you weld it together. The user disciplerocks on here has been using them, talk to him for the good and bad on them I suppose. There are two styles, check out the link below.

The most cost effective is to make your own, but these will work if you don't have the tools readily available to you.

Mine:

Made with 2" .250" wall DOM tube. Frame brackets made from 3/16" CR plate steel.

thanks yall, i still dont know what im gonna do but im leaning towards making my own, but i was wondering what you do with the teanny mount, do you make your own or can you buy one?

thanks dave,

Depends on the length. I didn't need one. You can see junkie's still has the stock one, but ryda's built his own.

I've since bent mine up on a rock and replaced it with something home-built that's sturdier (still keeping it separate from the arm mounts). But yes, the arm's length generally dictates whether you'll need to replace or rework your tranny crossmember or not (12" extended on the arms will put you just in front of the member, and is what mine are).

ya my crossmember is destroyed/bent, and the guy befroe me replaced the trany with something shorter so he just welded a plate to the cross member and made it work. he cliped it and bent the mount so the tranny sits low and the front drive shaft hits the control arm cross member when flexing down. so im thinking of scraping this project for a better condition one. the truck was only 300 buck and its pretty beat. but thanks for the ideas, i think i have a better grasp on it now.
