Lights that dim

just put a 302 in my ranger. I also wired up the duras ark and the ols style externally regulated alternator. System charges good lights work well also, problem is they will dim and then brighten back up, it's only when the rpms re up. The only thing thAt might be out of the ordinary is I ran a second lead of the stator to the auto choke, could that cause the issue?

The autochoke should be always hot so it would be something intermittent...or perhaps just a loose wire or weak ground...mine were going dim sporadically and it turned out that the wire connector was wonky...spliced the wires around the connector and it cleared it up...
