Dim dash lights?

Lately the dash lights in my '84 ranger have been pretty dim. I'd say 1/2 brightness. That being said, the signal lights (turn signal, high beam, dummy lights etc) are all fine. Only the green backlighting is dim. Any ideas? Possibly a fuseable link?

I hate to "dumbass" you, but did you turn the dimmer down?

the only thing I can think of is that you have bumped the panel light dimmer switch. Usually a scroll wheel style dimmer right next to the light switch on the newer Rangers. yours might have it as a ring at the base of your pull out style light switch.

That dimmer switch may also be going bad. crank it up and down a few times and see if it improves. maybe the contacts are dirty.

Oh, wow do I feel like an idiot!

I've had the truck for a few years now and didn't even know you could do that with the headlight switch! I always did think about setting up a dome-light switch for use when on the road too...

Thanks for enlightening me on that, I sure missed the boat on that one! I'll tell ya what, I sure am glad I don't have to look at my dash fully dimmed anymore lol
