Lifting my 97

I'm sorry, but a ranger is simply not built to tow a CAT D-11 Bulldozer.:icon_confused:

I'm just judging that by how well beefed up that hitch/bumper combo is.:D

Can't buy that from JC Whitney!!!:icon_thumby:

Progress whoo hooo! Slip and twist style traction bar?

Weld looks good but welding that clip nut in there was a bad move.

Should have just welded a regular nut to the back side. I see that clip nut breaking the first time you have to pull the bolt out. I can't begin to count how many i have stripped out or broken. I try to replace as many as I can when they come around.

Shackle type. :D

With a hanging shackle? :nono: I'm sure it'll be fine, but most guys run em with an inverted shackle so the shackle is in tension while driving forward. That way the shackle can't go past horizontal and damage stuff. I'm having a hard time explaining the situation, but I know you understand :D

I concur with CopyKat.

Them little clip nuts aint the toughest things around..

Otherwise, looks good!

Hmm. I didnt do enough research. I get what your saying.... I didnt even think about that aspect of how it would work. It would basically be an unstable situation.

Thanks for pointing that out.... I may revise my plan to be a slip/twist......

Thanks for the input. I didnt realize that I would be welding where the clip nut was untill access to puta nut on the back side had already been lost. I have had good luck with clip nuts aslong as they were not rusted. I only plan on taking the tank down once in the forseeable future.

And here are some pics from tonight.

Gas tank straps fabbed,

fresh steel primed and painted, gas tank installed, bleeded the brakes, started fabbing the exhaust, reinstalled front bumper, bolted up winch, connected winch power cables,

Props for keeping it legal and sticking with the cats :icon_thumby:

Wow. Nice work with the exhaust flange. I know welding exhaust is a bitch.

So I got the truck "finished" and everything was going great...............

And then murphy kicked me in the balls.... Hard.

Rubber crush proof tail pipe = fail.

40 miles and 1/4 tank of gas..... running very rich.

Found I completely forgot to tighten the front wheel lugs. One wheel cover got put on and covered the loose lugs. The result was a destroyed wheel. My own damn fault on that one. :buttkick: :nopityA:

Although I found I can replace wheel studs in about 20 minutes.

I am pissed and am going to bed. I was supposed to go wheeling this weekend and obviously thats not happening now. :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:
