ok ladies and gentleman my question is how hard would it be to replace my current windows to lexan?
How much do u think it would roughly?

the reason for this is not to save weight but for added security theyve broken in to my truck 3x in the past 4 months

1st time they broke in they shattered the window and jacked my cd player cop radar pair of dj headphones and my cup holders full of change( idiots didnt know what they were stealing cuz i left my tool box full of tools in my backseat along with several spot lights and knives they didnt even touch that:yahoo:)

i replaced the window($120 at safelight) and got a cheap ($30) cd player:sad:

not3 weeks later same thing shattered window cd player gone thats basically all the took cuz thats all that was valuable in my truck

i replaced the god damn window again another $120:sad:
but i didnt replace the cd player

this last time they broke in same thing shattered window but ddnt take anything cuz i learned after the second time i didnt replace anything and took everything out but they still broke the ****ing window just to look in:annoyed:

i will catch these SOBS

so i wanted to know if anyone has done windows with lexan before?!
i know u have to but some sort of uv film over also u have to tint it from the inside

There are actually companies offering pre-made lexan windows for the ranger

i gotta look that up but i bet prices would be $100+
i mean i still payed $120 for a regular one but if i can shave a few bucks off by doing myself i would rather go that way
i dont think i need any special equipment or anything

Aren't the windows slightly curved? I'm not sure how you would replicate that yourself.

Rather than trying to catch whoever is doing this just break the windows on all the cars in your neighborhood. That way you can be 60% sure you got them back...

I really hate to say this, just thinking in a practical sense if there isn't anything to take, maybe just leave it unlocked? Or are they smashing the window with it unlocked?

When I was in school, the school wasn't in a good part of town. The students who parked on the streets learned quickly to leave their car unlocked because any locked car was presumed to have valuables in it and got windows smashed.

Even if you got it replaced with Lexan, might they smash a different, maybe more expensive window instead? It is possible they just vandalize anyways just to do so.

I really do hope you catch them.

i say catch them and confine them to a wheelchair for the rest of their lives.:D would serve them right

could see if police would drive up and down your street a few times a night

or mount a shotgun on inside of window and when they break glass it gives them a face full of rock salt....:icon_rofl:

or put full coverage with glass coverage on it $0 deductible on the glass and safelite replaces glass at no expense to you...

Shoot them in the face point blank with a 12 gauge slug and throw them on their mammas porch. Why the hell do you lower 48ers willingly bend over for ghetto scum!? lexan won't fix the problem, lead will.:annoyed:

Lima speaks the truth. We dont call 911. We call .45acp

Due to rising cost of ammo and the shortage of it, we no longer fire a warning shot.

Don't leave anything valuable in there and leave it unlocked. 99% of people don't steal the vehicle they just want whats inside. Let them find out there is nothing inside and they will focus on another vehicle.

Or to actually solve the problem, find them and make a very public but yet completely anonymous example of the situation. Things change fast when certain people go missing...

believe me theres nothing valuable in my truck
Also I would love to shoot shoot who ever is doin this but I would get alot more pleasure out of it if I hit them on the side of the knee with my n&$#er beater(fish bonker/small alhminum bat) :)

As for as the curve in the window I read if u use 1/8 its flexible to fit in the window channel and forms it itself

Get an extension cord and cut the female end off of it. strip the wires back about 2 inches.

take it out to your truck and route it so that it is not easily seen and have it go up into the engine compartment. take off the radiator cap and put the stripped end into the radiator. close the hood. go back to the house and plug the cord in.

When you hear the scream, unplug the cord and pull it back to the house, then use a tire iron on the perp.

Note, you might want to make sure that your truck is definitely on your property (and not on the street) where an innocent bystander or jogger or pedestrian can come into contact with the vehicle..

Note... this may cause your circuit breaker to trip...

also note... this will probably roast your electronics in your truck...

also also note...you can probably go to jail if you are caught...

So probably not a good idea, but it is a nice fantasy to think of the perp lying on the ground twitching as his eyes roll back into his head and pisses himself after getting a full 110 volts as he tries to open the door...
