Lets see your camping vehicles!

Eagerly awaiting updates weezl. I just might have to "borrow" your idea for use on my own Ranger.

it's pretty solid, i will have to do some work to see what the cost to make it would be, but as it turns out, i've got everyone i need, to do everything from creating the design, right up to manufacturing the product, in my immediate family, the only thing i don't have is someone who has a whole bunch of fabric.

when we did one on a friends truck... we used pvc w/ 90 degree elbows and stuff and framed it out. so it was shaped like a regular bed camper topper then covered it w/ a military tarp we found at a surplus store for $30 :D it worked great.. of course yall already talked about all this... but it does work great.

I bet it does work great with the 90* elbows. I would go for a set of 45* elbows that way it gives the more headroom of a regular camper shell but is slanted on the sides so it doesn't catch as much air and risk the tarp being ripped off. So many different things to think of.

he only used his when doing expo trips.. the frame comes out easily, has holes drilled where he can bolt it in w/ wingnuts.. and the tarp comes off and gets rolled up behind the seat..

now when doing expo trips the entire thing stays on the truck. works great. i'll try to get pics next time he's around w/ it on. just don't mind that he has a Taco and not a ranger lol

Hmm, interesting. I used to have a Taco, and those are damn good trucks as well, I used to even be on TTORA, until I sold it.

heres mine. im slowly working on it. took a break during winter
heres the oldest pic i have of it a week after getting it
i did the axle flip, and put roll-on bed liner on it so it wouldent get as beat up on trails
also blacked out side marker lights but kept rear red

then just last week i put a lift on it with some bigger tires
not the best pic but you can see the difference

25" at trailer frame off the ground

Two bed pop-up? What are the anemities included with it?

1 queen size bed 1 double, fold out single bed from the table,
furnace, stove, sink lots of storage, 30 gal build in water tank. and i can stand up in it im 6'4" lol

Nice! How much did you pay for it. New/used?

it was used, i bought it for 400$ the guy wanted 500 but i had to drive to red deer so he took of the gas price =). nothing wrong with it at all...got a hell of a steal. he just wanted to get rid of it he got a 30+ foot trailer.

couple rips in the canvas, i pached them though, and just in case
i took the tarp from one of those car tent/garage things and cut it to shape so it drapes over each side of the pop outs. keeps wind down as well as heat out during the day!!
and the stove and sink actually swing out on a hinge so i can cook and clean outside!

That's awesome! I have been trying to find a way for me and the wife to be mobile with a small "home" and still have the bed availabe to stow stuff. I think a pop-up would be perfect for us.

Hi, First post here.. I'm the guy helping itlives with the Vw Pickup Ford conversion... I've race 2300 Fords for 11 years in Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas ...... I have built some pretty potent 2300's and 2500's and really love the engines... I helped steer Mike to the ford as a conversion engine due to power requirements, reliability and availaility of parts.. :headbang:

Here is my creation... While not a Ford 2300 it's still a pretty unique approach at offroad camping.... Clyde is a 1973 Vw Adventurewagen.... Powered by 2.8 L Chevy..... I almost went with the Ford 2.8l Cologne V6 but parts were difficult to source on the road.. The V6 is bored .040 over, Torquer Cam, Edelbrock Tunnelram, Holley 4bbl. puts out 200hp and 200Ft. Torque.. The rest is beefed up Vw.

Clyde had a 4" lift kit on him running 32" AT tires rear and 30" up front.. 4:57 R&P with a Overdrive 4th gear installed... drops rpms to 2700 @ 70mph. I've since removed the lift kit but still run the tires..... He just handles better at 75mph..

Inside Clyde sleeps 2. It has a 65watt solar panel on top to supply dual batteries with power ... solar powered fridge, running water, DVD/TV with surround sound. LED's throughout.... It's a very fast and fun camper...

I built a custom AT trailer to pull extra camp gear and my canoe/kayak with.
