We need to stop messing with the framework that the founding fathers created.
dumb question for the day...
How do I stop the leaking from the transmission line going into the radiator? I have gradually tightened it fittings down but afraid I’m going to crack the tank or strip threads if I tighten it much more. Should the fittings have some sort of sealing tape or other stuff on the threads?

It wouldn't hurt to use tephlon tape. Just be sure not to cover the hole of the fitting.

+1 ^^^

Its a flare nut fitting so unscrew it and pull nut back a bit and wipe down the flare so the is no debris on it or the nut
Yes you can use sealing or teflon tape on the threads, but the seal should be at the flare where it meets the connector inside and the nut pushing down on the back side of flare

Unfortunatley, I have had new flare fittings that just never worked no matter what I did. Rare though, usually its my error.

There are 2 angles of flare fittings. 45* SAE and 37* AN fitting. So it is possible you don't have the proper contact needed.

I’m embarrassed to say but it is fixed. I believe that I simply hadn’t tightened all the fittings enough.

Thanks yet again for all the knowledge shared!

wait I don't think there should be any coolant coming out of those fittings in the first place. That transmission cooler is separate from the coolant passages in the radiator. If you are getting engine coolant out of those fittings the internal transmission cooler in the radiator is damaged...you'll induce coolant into your transmission and destroy the transmission.

Luckily mine was leaking only transmission fluid. But good to know for the future reference.
thanks wildbill
