my 86 2.9 has been having the problem of while drivin, it doesnt wanna go, it bucks and boggs down when im accelleraiting. i know that the 4 cylinders have a sensor on the motor, behind the timing cover, that regulates the fuel, i dont know what its called. i was wondering if the 2.9s have that sensor too?

code will be you most help at this point....they might not point to a exact problem...but will heard/steer you in correct direction.

your symtoms can be cause by many things and or in all likelyhood 2 or 3, or more, things not playing well with each other... aka lieing to each other.

Have checked for correct vacuum pressure and leaks alsomade sure your grounds and connections are good....

my biggest gains in proformance was when I pinned the battery down...sounds silly but true...now don't get it wrong I don't go wheeling or bogg'n..its DD for me, everyday road conditions was enough.

today was a bad day for the truck.... it ran really bad all day, pergessivly gettin worse and worse, eventually it wouldnt hardly go 35 and fight me to get there. then the frame mounted pump quit on me. but when i reset the inresha switch it started workin again. i thought when that was tripped both pumps would quit?

recheck/test the TFI....also posssible pick-up coil under the distributor(hall effect)

check the fuel pressure...

deffinatly get the codes
