Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

Bad ass! I will be on a trailer so I don't have to worry about getting it home...see if I hit it harder!

Looks like the doubler talk is gonna be on hold for a little bit....

I am gonna be ordering up some 1.750 bending mandrels to do an exo. A buddy of mine is gonna split em with me for use of my welder and bender, then we are bothing doing exo's, just need to pick a design.

I kinds like how simple this is, but with more gusseting and Xing...

But maybe only one X on the roof, and the v on the winsheild upside down

How bout some other ideas...

i like the first one, but i think the second one is too much

i like the second one but like you said with 1 x on the roof and the v upside down. u gonna extend it to cover your fenders as well?

second for sure....it looks way over the top because simply its done right

the first one just looks unfinished and one good flop on the corner and its just going to fold over

i say take it along the front fenders and down the bed

I have always thought of Kenny's as more a body protection from trees etc then a protection type roll cage.

While I have never "rolled" mine, I have laid it on its side several times and winched off it several times as well to up right me or to pull the body sideways to fit through tight areas.

all ide be using it for is to keep from creasing fender's. build it for what your gonna use it for. if you wheel to the point that you are concerned about a rollover then build it to suit. you can allway's add on after the fact. then again you cant take back damage/injury

I am gonna build it so I can flop it and walk away/ flip the truck back over and keep wheeling. I want to preserve myself and my truck. That being said, I like the style of Kenny's, first one I posted, but it appears to lack in strength, even at the slider. I want to have a middle of the line exo, not over done but not under done either, I am going to re do my sliders using 2x6 3/16 rectangle, gusseted and attached to the frame with 2x2 3/16 square, that will be my base of my exo. I will be using 1.75 DOM or HREW tube with a .120 I have a few good ideas so far, we will see where it goes.

And yes, I will tie the front into the cage and add some fender protection.

And the stinger FTW, he stood it up on end then bumped throttle foward and dropped it back onto the wheels, no stinger, def front endo.

greg's is my fav. Looks to be very effective, but isn't super bulky and ugly. I really like how it goes inside the fenders.

I like his, I just want something that will offer some body protection.

where we wheel at...rubbing against trees at awkward angles is where the majority of our sheetmetal damage comes from....why Greg and Jon have both gone to Tube beds....

I personally haven't seen anywhere we wheel where the front quarters are really in danger....

IDK, I still want a full, exposed exo. If I am gonna build it, might as well make it protect my whole truck.

Some work done, changed steering up a little.

You get the idea, but it is all 3/4" heims, with 3/4" bolts. The pitman arm is still cooling at work so it isn't on, but it will be a 5/8" bolt in double shear. The tube is 1.5" dia 1/4 wall DOM. All the gussets and tabs are 1/4". I flipped the tie rod to the top of the knuckle also, so I gained a little clearance. I took 3" out of the drag link so it is the same length as the track bar, so my bump steer is better.

Gonna go beat on it this weekend, let ya'll know how it goes. Going with the Cheap Thrills crew, should be fun!
