Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

take a piece of angle iron that is 2x2....cut 2 pieces 4" long and drill to mount on either side of the winch...both on the top and front....

then bend ya a tube to arch out in front of the winch from angle to angle with mounting tabs for the fairlead on top of the tube...

that way you can unbolt it to remove the winch....

one other way would be to get 1/4" plate and have it bent for the fairlead mount with some gussets to strengthen the bend and have it drilled to match the mounting holes of the winch and have it "sandwhiched" between the winch and bumper...

just a thought...

I like the second idea.....simple and clean

Still thinking on the fairlead, so I started on the spare tire carrier/tail gate combo. Got the main hoop bent up, so far I'm not sure, but here it is. Gives me lots more bed space!

Gotta make some brackets to lock it up and add some more tube, but you get the idea.

When it's down with the tire on it, how heavy is it going to be to get it back up into the bed ????

Robert

To be honest, I'm not too worried about it. I probably wont ever put it down, but if I have too, couldn't be too bad, the spare only weights about 80lbs......haha

I am making it reversible, pull the pins and flip it 180* so the tire is out of the bed if I need more space too.

Anything will beat throwing the spare tire in and out and having sliding around.

On another note, picking up some 36" TSLs, maybe tomorrow. Getting 6 of them, can't wait.

just as an idea, try putting the tire on the bottom. wont block so much rear view

You want a B2 gas tank? You can take a fuel pump and hang it from a B2 tank. The sender will work with the gauge etc.....I have one here at the house.

Yeah, maybe. We will see when I get further along how it all fits. For all I know I will hate it and start over.

I had considered doing this but figured it was gonna be to much stress on the bolt with the bolt being that long. I ended up just using a chevy tie rod.

I also used these on the knuckles...seen to many times where the bolt gets loose and can wollow out the knuckle. With the taper it is much harder to loosen and wobble.

Picked up 6, 36" TSL radials tonight, one at about 80%, 3 at about 50% and 2 spares....and got 3 rims to go with em. They are kinds beat on, but still not bad. Think I am gonna cut em, any tips?? Pictures later

I also have a lead on some 36" TSL bias that I might go pick up as well, 4 at 80% and 1 brand new.......I have a trade worked out with him, we will see.
