Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

That fuel cell is sweet. Did you say what size it is?

Thanks guys! I am happy with how it came out, I stared at it for a few days before I did anything

The cell is a summit brand 20 gallon. It measures 24"x20"x10".

Cool. I've been thinking of a cell in the future.

Looks good Kyle. You have any plans to build a toolbox or fluids holder behind the fuel cell??
SVT

Rear driveshaft is done, shifters and linkages next, and I started in my anti wrap bar.

wow looks like it should be pretty stout. i love the low stace. looks really clean

I'm strongly considering going back to the H2's and ditching the H1's I have.

why? im looking at either picking up h1's or h2's but dont really like how much back spacing the h2's have. any insight as to why you dont want the h1's?

Small update....

Uh-oh....

I cut 10" off my frame, then made a new crossmember with a hitch in it. Then I made some shackles 7.5" today, put some hangers on the new crossmember and welded it all together.

Much better

I also made my front drive shaft today and picked up a new master cylinder (not sure it will work yet)

your progress is lookin good man.
I gotta question though, how did you know how long to make the shackles, before you made the hangers to at least mock them up?

I just figured shackle angle and measured up to the frame where I wanted it to hang from, from the leaf spring with weight on it before I started cutting. Then I cut the frame in relationship to that measurment and welded it back together. My height is within an 1/8" of where it was before.

All I heard was "blah blah blah... I guessed".

Measure once, cut twice.... Isn't that what you taught me?

what size is your Hobart? I love my 135, but have been keeping my eyes peeled for a 187...

It's a 187 and I love it. Enough welder to do anything I need to do.
