Koda's Zx2.

Picked up four new bolts for the IAC. It only uses two and I only need one, but I know I'll lose at least one. Once I get that on it's going on ramps and I'm going to start looking for the trans problem. If I can't figure it out I'll sell the car and my truck at a loss to pay off my loan, and buy a suby.

couldn't you upgrade the material the pistons are made out of to increase lifespan?

10k miles of rust belt winter travel has definitely taken it's toll on my car. You should see my oil pan.

*cries* my freaking oil pan! *cries*

If anyone knows of a retailer where I can get stainless or aluminum oil pans, for a Zx2 let me know.

I have never use any speciality timing belt tools for any timing belt, never had a problem, been a tech now for 15 yrs of my life

Well, I'm not going to get a bunch of timing tools. I'm just going to pick up the cam tool. The cams on my car have a groove in them that it slips into, they only fit one way so it aligns them properly. The rest I can do by sticking a strait screwdriver through spark plug hole #1. There's a full walkthrough and video for it on another forum.

What I'm holding in the last picture is a tooth from the timing belt. A piece of one anyways. I still have to get it off to find the extent of the damage. It looks clean where I can see, but the problem is of course at the bottom.

I recieved my zx2 timing video from Zx2Fast on TeamZx2 yesterday, it's a very in depth video (over an hour long) and has helped a lot so far. Well worth the money. I also received my timing tool kit from Zxtuner, if you buy one DO NOT get the one with the TDC peg as it is useless on the Zx2 engine. It doesn't set it at TDC, but about a half inch off. The bar costs about 8 dollars less without the peg. I like the Zxtuner kit more than most because it is made of quality steel and has holes drilled in both the bar and the peg (useless) so that you can hang them in your shop.

I also ordered a timing belt and 24" flex wrench today, so when that arrives I should be able to get started!

I recommend replacing the timing belt tensioners while you're in there. A bad tensioner can (will) break a new belt. You can usually buy the belt and tensioners all in one kit and save some money.

I'm going to buy the pullies elsewhere. Advance only had the pulley kit without a belt for 100 bucks, and it wasn't the right one for a '00 zx2.

All the way till 99.5 they used two small pulleys, after 00 they used one large one.

Tensioner is the same though.
