Keeps killing fuel pumps.

The connector at the top of the tank can be problematic (clean up its contacts and apply dielectric grease).

The ground for the fuel pump, G103 (black wire) is on the Driver's inner front fender, just 3-4" aft of the solenoid - clean it up.

The fuel pump relay should be replaced. It is located in the fusebox in the engine bay, on the fender side, middle relay, outboard.

The Inertia switch is under the carpet where the passenger's toes rest. Take off its connector and jumper the two (or 3) connector contacts all together. Tape it up (while jumpered) to keep it secure and protected from shorts to ground and drive it like that for a few days. No harm will come from that, except the fuel pump will not shut off if you crash/impact. The inertia switch can be problematic. They are common to find in all Fords. I like to get them from the Junk Yard out of Sedans, since theirs are in the trunk and less crud-prone.

I replaced a pump in a 93 once, then sold (flipped for $) the truck. Its new owner had to replace that pump again because the short fuel line on the pump was NOT FUEL COMPATIBLE. That line came with the new pump.

If the fuel pump cuts on some times and sometimes not, its probably a short in the wires at the inertia switch. I bypass all of my rangers the 1st day I get them, because they tend to go bad and arch and start melting the wires at the switch. One had melted the wires and part of the switch. It should be on the passenger firewall right up under the carpet/rubber mat.

My 93 had issue with the fuse for the fuel pump under the good( Sometimes still does). It would run great, shut it off and go to restart and nothing. When ever it does this without fail I can wiggle the fuse and she will start right up. It only does it once in a blue moon. Ming not be your issue but worth a look.

How do i bypass it? is there a set of wires entering and leaving it i just connect?

just bridge the 2 wires together and it will be by passed.. however not recommended for anything other then diagnosing.

Ok so i replaced the pump and it worked fine. For one trip of a total of 200 miles. I tried bypassing the inertia switch, still nothing. So tonight i will be ordering a new pump that didnt come from advance auto parts. What ae your guys thoughts on Delphi pumps? Ive got two choices, Delphi or ACDelco. My dad says Delphi is the better choice

Have you tried bench testing the "bad" ones?

or checking your fuel tank to see if it's really dirty (though I imagine you would have mentioned the sock being pretty gunky)
