Self adjuster keeps failing

Another indicator of 9 inch brakes...

The wheel cylinders don't have the strut that connection to the shoes.

I'll make a correction to the pin for the park brake lever on 10 inch brakes. The pin is pressed into the park brake lever and not the shoe.

It doesn't really matter in this case because of your 9 inch brakes.

Yes. Their 9 inch brakes.

The whole reason for asking about the pin is because I am trying to find out why the self adjuster keeps failing, on both sides. I noticed that pin so it caught my attention.

Any of you guys see anything out of place?

If both sides keep getting loose after adjusting them, you have the adjusters on the wrong sides of the truck.

There is a lefthand adjuster and a righthand adjuster.

Alright, I have a complete and correct 7.5” with 9” drums that I’ve been meaning to pull the brakes so I’ll try to get that done and shoot some video in the next couple days

So i just looked at your pictures a bit closer.

I see the adjusting lever and spring are gone and it broke the adjuster cable.

Did the star wheel fall out too... or just stay in place?

Confirm you're using the correct cable. I want to say there are two... 9 or 10 inch brakes.

Did you get the adjusting lever spring on correct? When installed... the spring forces the down. The cable will pull the lever up... when a "self adjusting" event occurs.

Now verify... that the star wheel adjuster is installed properly. When you rotate the wheel upward... while looking at it from drum side... the adjuster will get longer.

Also...

Look at the top of the primary shoe. When everything is put together... the top of both brake shoes... should be in full contact with the anchor pin.

Your primary shoe appears to be 1/8 inch away from the pin.

Thats typically caused by the park brake strut keeping the shoes held apart.
