Just Plain Stupied

O.K. what happened to my 300 word answer for Wicked --short version: I know what I got in my OEM 2.9...
/free 350
/make adapter plates & drive shaft to fit Ranger
/ test out 350 & have a drive-able truck while fixin 2.9L/
/do top end on Ranger 2.9 /
/put 350 in engine-less ski boat/
/ put screamin 2.9 back in Ranger.

Hence:Just Plain Stupied!:yahoo:

Yep, kinda like a face replacement:icon_rofl:
Besides, when you've spent 18 months(aarrgghh war story) dodging bullets, grenades, missles, V.D. (oops V.C.),etc.----

Experiences like that make this project fun. Anytime something doesn't go right....I think about the war story list!

:icon_twisted: :yahoo: :icon_rofl: :icon_bounceblue: :icon_hornsup:

I really like this build. :icon_thumby: And I have a feeling, after driving around with the SBC in there, the 2.9 will be the one going in the boat. :icon_rofl:

Nope, nada, nien:no2:, for 2 reasons:
#1 It (2.9) fits r-r-real good &
#B Running on 4 cylinders it has plenty of Go with that plastic cab
--think what it'll do with all six of those little monsters screaming at one time.
Plus, in a boat or on land, a 350sbc gets the same gas mileage:icon_rofl:

My neighbor has a dyno just about as classy as yours. But hey it works. So when is this thing gonna be put back together, I really want to see it done.

I'm gonna try cranking the spare engine this week-end and run it a few times to check for leaks, etc. If alls O.K., I'll bolt on the auto-xmsn & leak-test it.

As far as the cab, Joe at Expert Collision still has it & has done some body work on it (the '68 Camaro ahead of my truck is just about finished, so I'm next in the primer booth):yahoo:

The rest of the body is in my house un-assembled so it won't get scratched:icon_hornsup:

I figured when I get the cab (driveable but not legal yet) back, all I have to remove is the radiator to do an engine swap. Then I'll bolt on the bed, fenders, running boards, & 4-piece hood.

It was looking like end of January, but now middle of Feb..

Treefrog is watching things for me.........

Streetrod Engine Test

now, to bolt the A/T to the sbc and test it
(now where did I store that xmsn?:icon_confused:)

Found the xmsn--cleaning the inside & hot-wiring the lock-out torque converter so it will engage in "over-drive" & will dis-engage when in passing gear:

Cleaned the case up:

Finally got 700R4 bolted on & taken for a 30 minute "spin around the block".
Temp. ran at a constant 185 degrees while taking xmsn thru the gears to work all the air out of the guts.

Connected high pressure rubber hoses from the xmsn to the Ranger radiator & cooled everything with stock belt-driven fan.
Gonna remove belt-fan & install electric fan from bone yard once everythings bolted into Ranger Chassis.
Still waiting on Cab/chassis to get back from painter.
Gonna try & find some info on sbc p/s pump pressure vs. Ranger pump pressure to see if they're interchangeable...:yahoo:...they are(gotta mod fittings, though):annoyed:
