Ohhhhhhh yeahhhhh........

Re-Welded with a transistor-radio battery......annnnddd.......uhhhh.....jumper cables!

EDIT: What's the deal with Photobucket posting these huge pics?!

I finally managed to get something done....it was about a 30 minute project:

Take the tension off the drive belt.....

Remove the alternator wiring harness.......

Remove 3 bolts including a rear alternator brace....

Pull out the "old" alternator.....

Drop in the new 160 amp alternator. & bolt it in place...

STREETROD (2).jpg

Re-install the drive belt....

Re-connect the wiring harness....

Fire the truck up....

Turn on the A/C....the headlights....the radiator cooling fans....the 12 volt air pump....raise & lower the windows a few times also....

The volt-gauge didn't even twitch! (normally it would drop to about 12.5 volts)

Nowwwwwww....I'll have a hot battery all the time (no more headlight flaring or s-l-o-w electric windows)

Good on ya for getting that done. It sure is better when things work.

Maybe you could send some of that warm weather up here so I can get motivated.

It done went and got cold on me, and the new BII is shivering in her tent.

I don't know WHAT photobucket is up to!

The weatherman said you mens is in for a real treat up yonder!

I drove the Ranger last night.....

Lights........heater.......cooling fans in traffic....the new alternator is doing great.....

You know how the engine rpm drops a little when the A/C is turned on....WELL...when my cooling fans came on--the 130 amp alternator would cause the rpm to drop a little because it must have been maxxed out for a few seconds.

I was even able to idle down the engine with the new alternator and it still puts out 14 Volts !!!!!

I drove the Ranger about an hour again today......to my oldest daughter's house to check on her in the next town.

the 160 is working gooooooooooooooood!!!

It is nice to hear that you feeling upbeat and good about something:yahoo:

Thanks for the encouragement......It's nice to be able to jump into the'36 and try to relax for a little while.

I force myself to do something....then there's a break in the sadness to help me feel a little better for a day or two...

Then reality sets in again. (My son-in-law could only eat icecream near the end....I nearly stopped at a small store the other day to buy him a container of butter-pecan........

Then I remembered that he's not with us any more.

Who would have thought that a truck build thread would have Life Events as part of the build?

Well.......(Happy) Thanksgiving Day Everyone !

We're all going to my mother/father-in-law's house for Thanksgiving....

My oldest daughter is staying home----she's too sad about what happened to her husband.

We'll go back to her house and spend the night....Holidays are rough when something terrible happens.

We can't go in the '36....we have to pick up her kids and bring them to Thanksgiving dinner.....since I have bucket seats in the Ranger now.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

that is what the bed is for, put the kids in the back.

I can't remember how many times me and my brother rode in the back of a truck when it was cold and blowing snow, and enjoyed the ride just as much, only bad time was it when started raining on a long trip once.

Hang in there DG! Hope it goes well today have a Happy Thanksgiving my Friend.

I just dropped by to let everyone know that I'm still around.

I've really been tied-up helping my daughter move near us from her town since our SON-in-law passed away.....one of us has to stay with her 24/7 because she took it so hard.

The Ranger is getting worked out between the two towns, though.

Now I'll be able to work on it at her rent-house since it's so close to us......in between bouts of sadness.

Family is always more important, but the Ranger will be patiently waiting. :D

Thanks M.W.

My son was going to help me build the Ranger....but an Illegal Mexican with a violent police record killed my son....so I've been trying to finish it.

Now my son(-in-law) whom I've known since he was 14 years old is gone too because of cancer...

The Ranger project is taking a beating...but like you all said....

Family First!
