Just curious to know...........

To get off "Why not Minoit" or Ellsworth? Holloman is in the middle of no where. It is 100 miles in any direction to get to the next city. I mainly miss riding my CBR up in the mountains.

So just curious...beings that I live 10 minutes from Ellsworth, what's so bad about it? All I hear is people bitching about it. I have been on base a few times and it doesn't seem too bad :dunno:

I don't see whats so bad about it either. Granted, I've only stayed a night there, but the base seems to have a lot of money and generally looks like a decent place to be. TLF on that base is extremely nice for what you pay. Plus, Ellsworth seems like a pretty nice little city. I don't know if you are familiar with the bars there but some people on my flight went to "The Brass Rail" "Teddy's" and "The Firehouse", I was DDing but I found out what "The Brass Rail" was and laughed my head off.

AD SrA C17 flightline avionics from Dover currently in an undisclosed location in southwest Asia.

Yeehaw.

I was in for 10 years. Got out in 1996. Field Artillery (M101A1 and M198) and MSGBN. 3 Okinawa tours, a Bearhunt '87 in Korea, couple floats in the East Pacific with port calls to PI and Hong Kong, about 18months in Hawaii with 3 month long trips to 29 Palms for training and 3 to the big island, 2 trips to the Persian Gulf, a year on Pendleton, MSG school at Quantico, American Embassy Freetown in West Africa '93-'94, American Embassy Paris '94-'95, final year at Pendleton and then a long drive in a U-Haul. I got out an E5 with 5 years time in grade.

Where did you get a pic of your rack?

Adrian just come home safe. Your Ranger misses you.

My Dad was a Warrant Officer in the RCAF...was offered CO rank but decided to bail...

On another note...I just applied for a job in Afghanistan doing civilian work...not sure if they will even recruit a 53 year old has~been (that's not as bad as a never-will-be) but I would go...pay is outrageous...and all I'd be doing is cleaning up the gym and gambling away my earnings...

EDIT: Just noticed I put Dad down as a Warranty Officer...but I guess there were no warranty claims on military equipment...

I don't remember. I did it a long time ago. I used to have a page up with all my family former service members and their history.

Here is what I got in my short 6 yrs.

My bf is USAr. He spent a year over in Iraq doing route clearance. Got blown up. Lost 2 of his buddies. Still has 3 years and one more deployment to go. Very proud of my Soldier =]

2 years into it I have two ribbons (yes, the ones that every Airman receives upon graduation of BMT). I may qualify for the "Global War on Terror" ribbon, but its kind of hard to earn ribbons when you don't deploy...

You should have BMT, National Defense and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. I have been out for a year now so I maybe wrong. Go to your AF portal and check it out.

When I first came in everyone had ZERO ribbons until they either deployed and got their Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, or made it three years and got their Good Conduct Ribbon. An E5 with two ribbons was not uncommon. I went to Okinawa first so I was strutting around with just an SSDR when I went to Hawaii--where nobody there had any. I don't even recognize anything but Hoosier's National Defense (which started being authorized in 1990 for Desert Shield) and I assume the one above that is a Good Conduct with six years service.

I should mention the Marine Corps had no ribbon for completing training, like the Rainbow Ribbon we saw on army guys.
