How many veterans/AD/Reservists/National Guard members are here. I am a veteran of OEF serving in Kuwait for 125 hot ass days.

SSgt. Justin D Carlton, USAF, AD, Honorable Discharge
RAF Mildenhall, 100 ARW, 100 CS Aug 03 - Aug 06
Holloman AFB, NM, 49 FW, 49 CS Aug 06 - Sept 08

Well I know there are a lot here. Reserve, Nov '67', Fort Bragg for basic, still got my tag memorized, think it was beaten into us at the time. Funny how all the serial numbers ended in "SIR".

Active Duty Marine Corps here!

btw, lets be carefull of how much information we post here, or anywhere on the net. just something to think about.

AD in USAF. Stuck in this hellhole state for another 4 years :pissedoff:. Doesn't sound like any of your assignments were bad at all.

+1. Can never be too careful. Never know who's watching (usually people you'd rather not piss off), especially on forums.

OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

Holloman sucked ass. I went to Kuwait and I came back to my wife telling me she cheated me and was leaving me.

That could have happened at any base though. At least you have had the opportunity to deploy. I know plenty of people that would give a limb for orders to Holloman.

To get off "Why not Minoit" or Ellsworth? Holloman is in the middle of no where. It is 100 miles in any direction to get to the next city. I mainly miss riding my CBR up in the mountains.

There are no big cities in the entire state. Fargo is the largest at under 100k residents. Nobody really deploys here, and hardly anybody below E-7 gets orders anywhere. There is a number of people who do 20 years here without ever having been stationed anywhere else. Holloman is 100 miles from El Paso which is a huge city. The closest big city here is either Winnipeg or the twin cities (I like both places, just don't care for the drive). There's a number of reasons "why not minot" especially in my job but I don't wish to get into it.

What is your job? Mine was Voice Switching Systems.

I went to Kuwait and had to work with you guys. Holy sh*t you guys get bored really really easy. I saw some funny sh*t though. I went there to do TCN duty.

Army veteran here
Sgt
Ft. leonard wood, MO for basic training for 9 months
Ft. Benning Georgia for airborne training 3 weeks
Ft. bragg NC for the remaining of my 4 years - the 15 months in iraq

That sounds about right. I meet some of the dumbest people you can imagine. I've pretty much seen it all as far as dumb things being done, but I'm not excluding myself. Around here people who do TCM duty are called "augmentees". I've talked to people who have done it deployed and here (mostly people in services/chefs) and they say they hated it and things like "how do you put up with wearing that gear?" "i hated needing to learn the post briefings" "I'm glad I don't need to put up with that crap regularly". Its good to hear that you weren't negative about it :icon_thumby:. I'm guilty of the boredom thing. This job is the same thing everyday, and you never have anything to show for your days work because you haven't done anything. Don't get me wrong, getting paid to sit around is dandy, its just not for me.

I'd like to cross-train when my window opens but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm thinking 2T3X1 or 2M0X3.
