Jeep Build.....

Got the front on its own weight tonight. I still have to put the shocks, extended brake lines, and sway bar quick disconnects on and the front will be done; well minus an alignment.

i may have missed this, but what's the back lift consisting of?

do you have any plans for the D30? i've heard the 8.25 isnt a bad axle (much better than a D35), but i know the d30's are def the weak link of a jeep.....well, besides the vehicle being a jeep.

i talk sh*t, but i'm doing a cherokee build after i finish my b2.....they're AR type assault rifles, there's so much aftermarket crap for them it isnt funny

just a question not being critical...but why so much lift?

The back lift consist of full springs and shackles from Rough Country.

Until the Dana 30 breaks, it will stay the way it is for now. The only thing I might do to both axles is regear. The rear is getting a locker right after I get a winch or I can find a decent priced used set of gears.

I've built 2 RBV's so far and had fun doing it. My brother has a pretty well built TJ and the people he/we wheel with all have pretty well built Jeeps. It is easier for me now to do the build with the people I know and what they know about Jeeps. I have actually learned a lot helping my brother build his and now that I am doing mine.

There are a lot of parts available for most Jeeps. There are even more aftermarket parts available for the YJ and TJ than any other Jeep I would say based on what I have been searching. However, the YJ and TJ vehicles are much more expensive even in stock form.

I want to be able to clear the 33's without having to cut out so much fender. I know I am going to have to cut some rear fender, but not as much as I would with the 4" lift and the 33's.

Too high of a price for a XJ in my opinion, but otherwise looking good. My only suggestion suspension wise is to get you a set of CA drop brackets with that much lift.. you'll thank me! MUCH better ride quality and more flex. Found mine on CL for 130shipped. No downsides other than the cost and the inch or two of clearance loss under the rear of your arms.

Im running 6.5" rough country coils, rough country CA drop brackets, Rough country shackles and AAL, Iron Rock Offroad double shear track bar (awesome!), braided SJ ranger front lines, stock Dakota rear brake line, 15x8 D-windows, 33x12.50 Wrangler MTRs, and on and on... It's a blast offroad! whatever happened to your BII?

why not trim the fenders and keep the COG low?

here was my old 98 with 2 inch spacers up front and a bastard pack out back...

the fronts are cut to the top of the factory flare and the rear was just the usual cut and fold like most do

did the same on my 89 but it had more like 5 inch lift, it felt a whole lot less stable then the 98

it was on 33's

again not being critical just trying to help, you need to bring that thing down to interlake or TB this spring

XJ's around here for whatever reason have kept their value; hell, all Jeeps around here seem to hold their value.

I plan on getting a set of the drop brackets in the next couple weeks. I just want to see how it does without them first.

It has been fun riding with my brother in his TJ. His TJ was just as capable with just a lift and tires than my well modified BII was. I think the main difference is the 4 link front suspension vs. the TTB.

I sold my BII in the fall of '09. I needed the money to pay off some bills.

Most people I have talked to with a 6.5" lift on their XJ seem to say it is pretty stable. If it is too unstable, I will swap the 6.5" springs out for 4.5" springs and bring it down some.

I appreciate the input.

I plan on bringing it and a few other people down sometime this spring/summer/fall. I just have to find time; working 6 days a week between 2 jobs kinda sucks. I have to feed my bank account some how though I guess so I can pay for my hobby. My second job is what funds this project.

trust me i know what ya mean...that bank account seems to always be draining away faster then i can fill it.

i'm thinking of getting a second job to fund my hobbies, i have too many of them

I found a nice set of used wheels locally I am going to try to pick up today if they are still balancable. They are 5 15x8 steelies that came off a Jeep for $100.

Look on evensville's craigslist, there is a set of 15x8 canyon wheels off a wrangler with tires for 50 bucks... It's a steal but I don't need them might be worth looking into

I appreciate it, but I would rather spend the extra $50 for a 5th wheel and not having to drive 4 hours round trip to get them. I haven't found anyone on CraigsList who would ship anything, epically now with the PayPal scam going around on CraigsList.
