I want to be able to clear the 33's without having to cut out so much fender. I know I am going to have to cut some rear fender, but not as much as I would with the 4" lift and the 33's.just a question not being critical...but why so much lift?

XJ's around here for whatever reason have kept their value; hell, all Jeeps around here seem to hold their value.Too high of a price for a XJ in my opinion, but otherwise looking good. My only suggestion suspension wise is to get you a set of CA drop brackets with that much lift.. you'll thank me! MUCH better ride quality and more flex. Found mine on CL for 130shipped. No downsides other than the cost and the inch or two of clearance loss under the rear of your arms.
It has been fun riding with my brother in his TJ. His TJ was just as capable with just a lift and tires than my well modified BII was. I think the main difference is the 4 link front suspension vs. the TTB.Im running 6.5" rough country coils, rough country CA drop brackets, Rough country shackles and AAL, Iron Rock Offroad double shear track bar (awesome!), braided SJ ranger front lines, stock Dakota rear brake line, 15x8 D-windows, 33x12.50 Wrangler MTRs, and on and on... It's a blast offroad! whatever happened to your BII?
Most people I have talked to with a 6.5" lift on their XJ seem to say it is pretty stable. If it is too unstable, I will swap the 6.5" springs out for 4.5" springs and bring it down some.why not trim the fenders and keep the COG low?
again not being critical just trying to help, you need to bring that thing down to interlake or TB this spring
I found a nice set of used wheels locally I am going to try to pick up today if they are still balancable. They are 5 15x8 steelies that came off a Jeep for $100.
