Well, I've been looking at a truck an hour or so away in Red Deer, Alberta. I decided to buy it. Its a 1993 Ranger, SWB step side 4x4. Its a 3L 5 speed, with a manual transfer case, and manual hubs. She's got a little under 200 000km on her and is a little beat up, but nothing I can't fix, aside from some scratches and dents and minor surface rust that I'll leave alone, as it will probably get worse if I take it out into the wild (it seems weird saying that, as I've always driven 2 wheel drive vehicles). I should be picking it up this next weekend, and I'm paying $3400 for it.
The down sides is the gauge lights don't work, and the fuel gauge doesn't work when its cold (sending unit?). There are some scratches and dings and the left rear box side has a little bit of damage as well as the bumper (nothing major, little bend in the bumper and a crack in the fiberglass). Then there is some broken trim on the interior, and the center console/ arm rest lid is busted (I'll just remove the arm rest completely). Something I have no control over is the size of the box, but oh well.
The good. There is a hard cover on the box that is covering a custom made sub box holding 2 15" alpines, that is ported into the cab. There are 2 amps and a capacitor and all the proper wiring, It has been installed correctly, and the port hole into the cab from the box has been sealed securely. It drives quite nicely with new shocks, brakes, and front suspension components, all toped off nicely by sitting everything on a set of 31"'s by GoodYear. There is very little rust on this truck, and everything seems to work how it is supposed to, and its a sharp looking truck.
My new baby.
