Hey guys, several months ago I replaced my lower intake manifold gasket on my 91 ranger 4.0 to try to fix the common pinging and oil burning problem. Now my truck is leaking a pretty good amount of coolant and I think that it is from the lower intake manifold gasket. I am going to try the retorque the bolts and see if that fixes the leak. Now here is my question, the replacement gasket was the fel-pro metal and rubber gasket so couldnt it be reused if I have to tear into the top end again? (as long as it is not a faulty gasket) The gasket kit was about a $100 dollars so I hope I do not have buy the same kit again this soon.

Sorry, but I have thrown away gasket sets that have less than an hour on them. I would not reuse.

You couldn't PAY me to reuse a gasket that seals coolant from the precious oil in my engines. Reusing one is one of the best examples of false economy I can think of.

:agree: Definately buy all new gaskets, without any question.
IMO, the Ford lower intake gaskets are way better than the Felpro ones.
-Also the right amount of RTV and following the torque spec/pattern/procedure can save you some headaches
