Hello all,
I just aquired a 1988 ford ranger from my grandfather who passed away and I am at the beginning of turning it into a V8 street beast. I have been researching rear end possibilities for this truck and have found what I want.I would like to use a rear from a 95-01 explorer. My reasons for this are that the one I have found is an 8.8 with 3.73 gears with limited slip, disk brakes, 31 spline axles, and a rated capacity of 3200 lbs. (better than my open 7.5 with 3.45 gears, 28 spline axles, drum brakes and a 2750 lb capacity). The spring under configuration is a plus to me as this will be a street truck. My concern is that this rear is 3" wider than my original. Will I have any issues with the wheel hitting the wheel wells or sticking out.If so what types of wheels will work or what would my front and backspacing have to be so they stay in the wells. Also what else other than the master cylinder do i have to change to make the disks work. Thanks to anyone who can help me!!
