Had to weld a tab on the license plate bracket for a light. Grinded smooth and painted it to match. Brake light switch installed. The front brake line going to the caliper on the passenger side was leaking. Bought a new one to replace it.
Well I got tags and have been driving it like this. Finished bodywork on the shaved gas door and primed it white. Started running rough. Had to replace the intake air temp sensor. Good as new. So the next step is gonna be a front end makeover.
.
So I was recently given a Mercury mountaineer roller with No motor. Pulled the front clip off. And removed the sun roof and hauled it to the scrap yard. I had everything to do a front end swap minus the front bumper. Went to a wrecking yard today and found one in great condition for 75 bucks. So the front end swap begins.
So I started on the roof today. The giant dent was getting to me. When I got the mountaineer I removed the sunroof before I scrapped it. As bad and the roof dent was I knew I wouuld have to cut a patch panel and replace that spot so I figured might as well go all out and put a sunroof in it too. I measured and squared up the opening I cut from the mercury. Marked my lines and started cutting.
Used the clamps and started doing slow tacks. Bad lighting in the pics but it is turning out pretty good. I have about a 2inch long area with a little bit of a gap, but I have a piece of brass I can put up under it and weld it out. Once I get it tacked pretty well I will cut the patch panel for the dent and tack it in.
