I went with my son about 2-1/2 years ago and we bought this 94 Standard cab XLT, 2.3L, 5 speed Ranger with the thought of fixing it up.
It had just over 200K on it, but very little rust and it appeared someone had taken pretty good care of it.
About 2 months after the purchase, my son was killed in an crash in his work truck. I brought the truck home and let it set for a while and finally decided I couldn't let it go. Since then I've done a bit of work to it and would like to continue with the effort mainly in my son's memory. I'm 71 years old and not a great mechanic, so I may be asking for advice and would appreciate everyone's patience if the questions reflect my lack of knowledge. I'll try to add some pics for your enjoyment. 20210830_210318_resized[1].jpg20210830_210752_resized[1].jpg20210903_210237_resized[1].jpg20210922_095535_resized[1].jpg20211006_160647_resized[1].jpg20211006_160658_resized[1].jpg20211009_210438_resized[1].jpg20211009_210443_resized[1].jpg20211009_210508_resized[1].jpg20220506_210245_resized[1].jpg20220506_210252_resized[1].jpg20220622_141228_resized[1].jpg20220622_141235_resized[1].jpg

that's a tough story to hear, sorry about your loss.
don't be afraid of the Ranger, I'll be 70 in a few months and still crawl under my Rangers to get 'er done.

I'm sorry to hear about your son.

Welcome to the madness.

My sympathy Kevin, that is very sad.

I think your notion is spot on, just be careful in what kind of positions you get yourself into.

Sorry about the loss of your son, Kevin.

Thank you all for your kind words.

You might do well to enlist the help of a school nearby to set it up.
I think either way you go it will be difficult but most times I believe that way was the way we needed to take, after all is said and done

Thank you all for your kind words.
It has all the original hubs, the "20 hole" 93 and 94 rims. It's a good looking truck. I'd be tempted to add a topper on that, or maybe a tool box

That's a Raptor DIY bedliner, btw. It turned out very well. I would recommend it to anyone. I did sand the old bed down and primer it before applying the bedliner.

This is a Tonno Pro tri-fold bed cover. It's kind of light duty, but it fits nicely, was fairly cheap, and I would recommend it also.
