I'm thinking about redoing my exhaust

As most of you know, I have a '92 V8 Ranger Supercab. I've had this generic true dual exhaust for 3 years now, and even after all the mods and upgrades I've done to the exhaust, it's still not "correct".

There's no flex joints anywhere from the headers, some spots are very tight to tolerance, and quite frankly, everyone has this setup. I've got a rare V8 ranger, but my exhaust isn't.

I've got it setup like this:

....and I want to go in this direction:

I'm gonna get bigger tires and rims at some point and I think that these would compliment them very nicely. Plus, all the exhaust tubing would be out of the way of the transmission, driveshaft, and all the other spots I can't access easily right now.

What do you guys think?

I say thumbs down, I, personally don't like the exhaust running along the sides like that... I think maybe having the tips going out at a 45* angle before the rear wheels would look nice.

Just my 2 cents though.

I mean, it wouldn't be "out" that far. I'd have it a couple inches under to body, just so that it's not as stuckout looking as the the one on the Vega.

Yeah coming out before the rear tire would be cool kinda like the ones on venessas truck:

+1! That's the way I have mine but be sure to send BOTH pipe out the passenger side. The driver's side will be right by the gas tank and hot gas isn't a good thing.

Also, no offense but turn those white walls to the inside!! LOL

that setup as shown above would look killer on yours man.
not a big fan of white stripe tires either lol
i would suggest u to turn em stripe in.

I know. That's how my grandpa had them when the truck was his. I haven't done anything to them just because I know I'm gonna get different rims/tires at some point.

As far as heat goes for the gas tank, this exhaust will be far enough away from the frame (probably 3+ inches), plus a heat shield will be surrounding the exhaust pipe. Vanessa's looks cool, but everyone up here has that too. I want that street rod looking side pipes on mine.

The exhaust would make an instant 90 as soon as it comes off the header or so. I'm probably gonna make a moon cut on the bottom of the frame, weld a piece of 3/16 rolled plate to cap the moon, and run the exhaust pipe(s) through that for ground clearance. The frame is boxed at that area, and the piece will be 3/16" thick for the filler, so I'm not worried about strength reduction.

Do it. I like side pipes, thinking about side-piping mine when I do the 4.0.

If you look at the Gallery, in James_Denton's pics, he has one done like that and it looks really nice.

I think he told me he got them from JC Whitney (I know, I know, dirty word, cardinal sin, etc, etc).

Just a name of a company. As long as it's not used out of context, you're safe! :D

His looks awesome! The only hurdle I'm gonna have is the length since mine's a supercab. Maybe they have pairs long enough to cover the length....... :icon_surprised:
