I'm sure I got a short.

You got it. The pickup is slightly magnetic and likes to grab metal shavings/dust. I wouldn't take anything apart unless you see something obviously bad. Alignment of that pickup is supposedly very sensitive and can cause problems. Technically the pickup is mounted on the timing cover.

@SenorNoob so if it's technically mounted to the timing cover does it rotate along with the harmonic balancer?:icon_confused:

No. let me see if I can find a good picture.

Okay.
Eagerly waiting.
Now I'm glad I couldn't sleep tonight.

The balancer is light blue. The pickup(crankshaft position sensor) is the black thing at about 11 O'clock. HERE is a link to it on RockAuto.
That sensor is where the twisted wires at the ignition module come from.

Okay. I thought that was just called the crankshaft position sensor.
And I thought that the pickup was another Part
that was connected to the harmonic balancer.
I thought that the part of the harmonic balancer that looks kind of like teeth on a gear was maybe the pickup.

Now I'm learning that the crankshaft position sensor and pickup for the same thing.

Yes. Sorry if I confused you there.

It's all good.

Sometimes in my opinion getting confused is the best helper to learning something because it makes you ask more questions and better questions as well.

Once again Thank you very much @SenorNoob For asking if I had looked at the crankshaft position sensor pickup or not.

I will take a look at it later today sometime if the weather permits.
Once I wake up after I go to sleep.
Of course not right when I wake up.
But after I've done my morning routine and then drove to my brothers.
Because I don't work on my truck at my house.
More tools and better resources at my brothers.

Have you happened to watch the latest video I posted the link to in my post #581?

I believe that the drop in RPMs when I come to an abrupt stop, is a clue to what's going on.
I just can't figure out what kind of Clue.

Is watching that video what gave you the idea to check the crankshaft position sensor pickup?

I did watch it. And actually it was. Does seem weird to me that the engine runs at all when the tach drops out. I can't see how the computer knows spark timing without a sensor signal. Maybe if your truck has a Cam Position Sensor? Or maybe the the ignition module just stops sending the tach signal at the first sign of a problem... :dntknw:

My truck does not have a cam position sensor or a synchro whatever it's called.

I've been suspicious of my truck's tachometer being off by maybe 200 or so RPMs since I got the truck running the first time.
The reason I say this is when my truck's running normal the tachometer reads the idle at right around 600 RPMs. At normal idle the tachometer needle is just a little tiny bit above the 500 mark.
So I'm calling that 600 RPMs.
It may even be considered 550 RPMs.
I've never known any vehicle to idle at 550 or 600 RPMs.
750 RPMs is the lowest I've ever seen besides the truck I now own.

So if the tachometer is off by even as little as 100 RPMs when it drops down to zero it's really at 100 RPMs.
Once again that's if it's off by 100 RPMs

Thank you @SenorNoob for the ideal checking the crankshaft position sensor pickup for debris.
And the conversation we've had since that point.
At this time I want to go ahead and lay down and see if I can go to sleep.
Have a good rest of your night and hopefully a good day tomorrow as well, well today actually since it's after midnight.
Good night.

Well I'm not going to get anything done today.
With spotty rain showers today, it's too wet for me to do anything.
Me not having a garage to work in sucks on days like today.

So today once I got to my Brother's house the 1st thing I did was look at the crankshaft position sensor on my truck.
I didn't see anything on it or blocking it in any way.
Took this picture of it.

After that I went back to cleaning and adding Dielectric Grease to the connectors on the driver side of the motor.
After cleaning and adding Dielectric Grease to each one I took the truck for a drive.

Once I was done with all the connectors on the driver side of my truck, the truck was running decently so I called it done.

Not having a job I decided to drive around and see if I could find some junk I could take to the junkyard to make some money.

After driving around for about 30 minutes and not finding anything I decided to drive to a different neighborhood and look there.

I started to change directions and then all of the sudden my truck died and it wouldn't start back up again.

I checked under the hood. I looked at all the connectors. Then I tried to think of anything else I could think of even sprayed some starter fluid in the intake the truck still wouldn't start.

I was just about to call my brother to come push my truck back to his house with his truck and just so happened he called me wanting to know what I was doing.

So I told him about my truck dying and he came with his roommate who lives in his basement to help me out. We spent about 5 minutes on the side of the road examining my trucks more then he pushed my truck back to his house with his truck.

I was getting ready to get under the hood of my truck and my brother told me,
" Look you're irritated right now. Give it a break for a while. Go run some errands for me and when you get back your truck should be cooled off and you can start from there. ".

So I said okay and went and ran some errands for him in one of his other vehicles.
Once I got back to his house like he said my truck was cooled off. First thing I did was just to try to start my truck and see if it would start up and run with it being cooled off and it didn't start.

So remembering when I first got the truck and I did this that and the other and a bunch of things trying to figure out what was wrong. Trying to figure out why the truck wouldn't start. And it turned out to be a blowed fuse. I decided I'd check the fuses first this time.

Sure enough the same 30 amp fuse that was blowed when I first got the truck was blowed again.

Luckily when I bought fuses the first time I bought an extra 30 amp fuse. So I put it in my truck. The truck started right up once I had the fuse replaced.

So now that I'm home and can read my EVTM. I'm going to look and see what all that 30 amp Max fuse is regulating. I guess regulating is the word I should use.

and here I figured this story would end with "8 gallons isn't enough to do very much / go very far - 'I was out of gas' - ha!"

LMAO.
I've got about 3/8 of a tank of gas. I think. Maybe I little more even.
