I'm sure I got a short.

What year KIA do you recommend and what model, Brain?

while a serious suggestion I really have no idea which one is gonna be the cheapest. That would also take a parts counter guy who either knows the parts or cares enough to think - not just punch numbers into the computer and sell whatever comes up. Since it is all back together unless I was dying to get it done today I think I would go the amazon route and find either a cheap sender or just the float.. I even found the brass float for the OEM style amazingly quite affordable for being brass (OEM style wont help you I know... that is unless you want to rebend the wire into the same style wrap around holder and are confident enough in your work as to not have to pull the bed off again....

I'm at AutoZone now in line.
I'll see what I find out here and go from there.
Thanks once again, Brain.

AutoZone was a bust.

Ran into a friend at AutoZone though he said his old lady might have some Cork. Wine bottle cork type Cork. Because she was going to do some project using it.

I figure if I can get a few corks, I got some thin wire I can use to tie the corks onto my already existing float.

Can anyone tell me if I can make it to buoyant?

old (especially old old boats) used cork... I think it tends to absorb some gas reducing it's buoyancy, but with enough to offset the metal arm it still floats... just the question becomes is your existing float more of a sinker than not - maybe pull it off, and run your wine corks over the wire so they are well affixed.... The longer the arm the greater the torque for floating, but conversely the longer the arm the greater the torque for getting yanked off when it sloshes at all...

At Kroger's now we're probably more later.

Done at Kroger's.

My brother told me where there is a:
Wine and Spirits,
Store.

I'm going to go there tomorrow and see if they have corks.

I figure if I get 6 corks, 1 for each side of the float and 2 for the top and 2 for the bottom it should float quite well.

As we know I need to compensate for the weight of the arm and the existing float. Plus the wire I use to tie the corks in place.
And as Brain pointed out the corks will most likely suck up some of the gas, so we got to compensate for all this.

I think it will work.

If it were me, I'd ditch the original float. Pop the clip off, slide the old float off. Drill small holes through your cork(s), slide 'em on and pop the clip back on.

It's not held on with a clip.
They slid the float onto the arm and then slid a brass washer onto the arm and then pinch the arm making it misshapen

to hold the washer in place.

I guess I could cut that little part of the arm off though.

I guess I could cut that little part of the arm off though.
Just sand it or file it until the little brass washer and float can slide off. That way, you're not shortening it. Once you figure out what works, use some small pliers to bend it 90 degrees to hold everything on.

Great idea Curious.

Last time I was at PickYourPart I saw a wrecked ranger there with the bed off.
I'm thinking I'll go there tomorrow and see if that truck still sitting there see if fuel pump assembly still in the tank.
Before I do anything with my truck.

I got no idea how much they would charge me for a float arm and float on though. Lol.

With pickyourpart, if all you need is the float, just grab one from almost any fuel pump laying around. Just make sure it has a hole large enough to fit on your rod.
