I'm sure I got a short.

So as everyone knows I'm pretty sure I got my gas gauge working.
However after I was done putting it back together and everything it read a little tiny bit over three quarters of a tank.
I drove it around for a good bit and I didn't see it move.
I'll see what it does tomorrow and let everybody know.

So in @Jim Oaks thread about who has the most Ranger parts stockpiled we was talking about my situation. I thought I'd let everybody know a little bit more of what the second half of my day was about.

Now don't kill me you guys but the second half of my day was working on a bowtie, you know a Chevy.

Hopefully the pictures below will help you guys get over the bowtie shock.

It has a 454 in it and we're having starting problems. So I was working on it a little bit today.
The guy you sees back in the pictures is my brother Andy.
( I have 5 real brothers and a few close friends I call my brother as well. )
I was taking the pictures.

This being a thread dedicated the Rangers if anybody would like me to post more in a general discussion thread let me know.

You're fine. Everyone that has a Chevy or a friend with a Chevy ends up working on one.

Well I don't know what I've done now.
I was going up a nice size hill and I lost power and the tachometer quit working. The check engine light came on.
The truck was still running and it was puttering alone.
I made it to the top of the hill crested it.
And as I was going down the other side I put my truck and neutral hit the gas a couple times it seemed like it had power back.
But as soon as I put back into drive it right back to running like crap again.
I don't understand it.
Turned at the first Street I found pulled over.
Check to make sure all my spark plug wires are hooked up and everything.
Call my brother he told me to unhooked the battery for 10 minutes and hook the battery back up and see what I get.

Battery connections tight?

They was yes. I unhooked them waited 10 minutes and hooked them back up.
I got no change.
I took my brother for a little ride he thinks I might have a clogged catalytic converter.
But we both agree that wouldn't make the tachometer stop working.
The tech is moving when I first start the truck it jumps and goes back down to zero and pretty much stays at zero.
When I put my truck in gear and try and go the tech jumps a little bit. It even goes up to around 1800 RPMs.
My truck drives.
It Ain't got no real power.

Right now I have the battery unhooked again and I have a jumper cable going from the positive terminal ( on the cable not the battery ) to the negative terminal ( on the cable not the battery ).
I'm going to wait 10 minutes and try hooking the battery back up see if I have any change.

One thing I can say for the good is when I put gas in my truck this morning the gas gauge moved.

Okay unhooked jumper cables from the positive and negative terminals on the cables.
Hook the battery back up started my truck tachometer seems to be working truck sounds normal or as normal as it easily sounds want to go for a drive and see what I got.

It drove fine for about a hundred feet then went right back to what it was doing.
I'm going to love it for my brother's house to my house see what it does in the morning after it said overnight.

So I believe I'm getting codes, 212, 226 & 232.

212 says:
(M) Ignition TACH signal was erratic (Module/Wiring) or SPOUT circuit fault - Ignition Systems.

226 says:
(O) Ignition Diagnostic Monitor (IDM) signal fault - Ignition Systems.

232 says:
(M) EI primary coil circuit failure - Ignition Systems.

@alwaysFlOoReD you liked the 2 latest post I put links in so I'm taking it that both of those links worked.?.?.?

Sorry to say @alwaysFlOoReD but your last post has me a little confused the part about:
" About those hoses, I think the short "
What is it about the short you think?????
