We've been taking our time, and its been like 9 months of this project. What was supposed to be a simple cab swap turned into an ordeal of near epic proportions.

First off, the idiot part, we didn't tag or bag ANYTHING!;missingteeth;:nono:
Was supposed to be easy, right. Well, we used an 88 cab to replace the 90. EVERTHING was different. EVERYTHING. But we got a lot done anyway, and now, I'm down to just a few niggling details. My Chiltons and Haynes book SUCK! And TRS just needs more 2.3 tech in the library. (If I had started with a pristine example of 88 or 90, I would probably have documented better...) yeah, right. Something simple? We've in turn touched about everything on this truck and I want it out of my garage...

So, on with the questions, pics included...

I cannot for the life of me find what this went to.
::Edit, goes to the master cylinder... Thanks!

Vacuum line part of the heater fan harness. Can't see what it went to. I am an IDIOT!

I'm thinking this goes to the MAP sensor, which was in a little different spot between cabs. And naturally, I can't find the MAP and its bracket...

Just don't know what this goes to anymore.:dntknw:

I'm hoping the wiring is the same, just need to find proper end. I can't grab from the 90 cab as it is long since gone, but I think I still have the 88 harness to hack from...

I'm really hoping some of the gurus here can help... even if you must laugh :haha::haha:, please offer some help. I deserve to be laughed at.

The metal tube near the valve cover connects to a t in the coolant line that runs to the heater core.

1st plug looks like brake switch

second wiper one you can just match up. yes the chiltons will tell you.

plug the vac line, the 88 should not need it.

do the heater like mentioned.

ride awn!!!!

Just to clear up confusion...

Truck is a 90. We fit an 88 cab and moved everything (well, hopefully) over from the 90 into the 88. Pain in the butt too. 90 dash and all into the 88 cab, cut the hole in the floor for electric Tcase shift, had some trouble routing wiring, but its all ready to glue down some carpet and padding...

I seem to remember the T in the coolant line now, hmmm, where the HELL did I put that? I'm still quite confused about the vacuum lines as I KNOW they went to something in years past...

Any 4 banger guys with hi-res pics underhood?

aye. well poke a hole in the wall and run the line from the hvac control to hook to it then. sometimes theres a bypass control too so if theres two lines in the truck look at the controler to see whats what with vac on it.

or am i confusing that with a gen 3:sad:

 now ya got me chasin my tail:buttkick:

Plug was for the master cylinder... Thanks. I couldn't even see that! Hehe...

Bobby, everything under the dash vacuum related is buttoned up. Just wondering where that hose goes, or did I break something? I found the old MAP for the 88, but don't think I saw one for the 90 before we trashed that cab. (well, the back half went to resurrect a rolled Ranger...)

and that's why I swapped the cab, wiring and engine when I swapped frames... and I only swapped between an '89 and a '90 (made late '89, with '89 engine controls), the dang chassis wiring was different! I ended up just swapping the chassis wiring too... ok, the dead cylinder on the donor frame was a good reason to swap engines too...

I can probably get you some pics of my '90 engine if I had your email as I don't have a way to post pics...

Well, I think I have most stuff sort of figured out. The coolant tube is another issue. Bought the T and just need to see a GOOD picture to see which line it Tees into... Off the thermostat housing or the other line?

A good pic would be awesome! Post it or PM me for an email addy...

OK, the one vacuum line with the rubber tag on it goes to the airbox.

So, I'm down to the one vacuum line that looks broken, that is on the heater fan harness, just don't know where that goes under the hood. And the orientation of the T'd line for coolant. And to actually swap the connector for the wipers.

As for starting the truck, I need to get the ground strap from the battery connected to the block and run a ground to the body and frame. Doubel check all other grounds and connections. FILL WITH FLUIDS!!!!! And, well, twist the key. Over 9 months into this.

I need someone with a 90 2.3 Ranger to get a pic of the vacuum digram under the hood. I would really appreciate that.

And I got the coolant lines figured out...

I just took a couple pics, I'm just about to email them...

sorry it took me a while, been a crazy weekend

No problem... Got them and thanks!!!

After 9 months working on it...

It lives...:clapping:
