Illegal?!?!

thats just being an asshole:annoyed:. i hate cops like that.

my mom got pulled over for 35 in a 25. the cop looked like he hadnt shaved at all in a few days and was just a complete prick about it.

my first "speeding" ticket was just for a blocked plate. i was goin 65 in a 50 or 55. cop was nice and let me go with the lisence plate ticket

i was in new jersey last week and i cant believe how the people drive over there. My dad was going 75 in a 60 and people were still passing him.

Didn't someone from Arizona just post something about getting pulled over because his ball hitch on the bumper was blocking the plate? That's all getting a little bit silly.
Dave

Thats because the punk cops sit down laying low in there seat and they wanna gripe because they cant see the numbers. :buttkick:

My buddy got pulled over for this last year in his blazer.... ive had my playe snow over, driving my truck in the snow at 60 in a 100( KM HERE) in about 10 minutes in a snow storm,

if you think im gonna stop every ten minutes to clean a plate in the storm..... i doubt it.... i know some ppl drive like retard cuz they have 4x4 but the plate deal can happen to any one.

I've never had snow accumulate on a moving vehicle before....

The only law we have here deals with covers over the license plates. People actually don't know that it's illegal and we hardly enforce it unless it's obvious someone is trying to hide it. I work in LE and when someone's tag is blocked for whatever reason, I just call it in after I get their paperwork. As far as the hitches go, someone stated they cause more damage in a rear end collision, is exactly why mine stays in 24-7. I got hit from behind by a DUI subject driving an old caprice with NO inusrance. Thats hitch saved my truck as it only bent the receiver.

Is that the same episode that said you drastically improve gas mileage when drafting behind semis? My buddy told me about it one day.

I have to agree with HahnsB2. A lot of these laws are there to give cops a reason to pull you over to find something else (like drunk drivers, and wanted criminals).

I was driving to/ past my cousin house one day and a cop pulled me over for no front plate. The plate was sitting on the floor because I accidentally broke a zip tie that was holding it on, so I just took it off. He told me to put it back on, and sent me on my way. Come to find out there is a Tavern at each end of my cousin's street, so cops tend to find the smallest things to pull people over for, but they hardly EVER write tickets. They find drunk drivers though!!

But on the original subject, I don't know of any laws like the tailgate thing, here in Washington. My dad has driven with a hitch in his receiver for all 7 years he's had his car, and not been bothered. And when I had my stock rear bumper, it always had a ball on the bumper. I don't drive with the tailgate down, so I don't know anything about that one.

it was on mythbusters, if u leave the gate up u will get better milage

you actually believe everything thats on mythbusters?

i do believe the who tailgate thing tho. just makes plain sense.

i got pulled over in arizona when driving cross country. they said i needed mud flaps. mudflaps!!!! i dont want my truck to look gay.

In Illinois, all trucks are required to have mudflaps or fenders to keep rocks and other debris from being thrown all around. Also, if your tires stick out beyond the fenders, you must have fender flares to cover how much they stick out.

As for the receiver thing, in IL it was illegal to have one in while not in use. that was a fairly new law if I remember correctly. I personally would not leave one in just because I do not want it to rust itself permanently to the hitch..

Not sure on these laws in Indiana...

AJ

Michigan has mudflap laws, too. And mudflaps are not "gay" to the person driving behind you.

Exactly. The last thing I want is some POS truck with mudders throwing a golf ball sized rock across the hood on my brand new car. Little stones happen but come on.....

yea.....im one of the mellower drivers. but i will admit to speeding a little bit

1. if your driving close enough to me to get hit by rocks from my tires... ur too damn close.

2. id rather pay a ticket than have mud flaps.

at highway speeds you will easily throw a rock over 100 feet. That's too close? Stupidest thing I ever read.
