It only increases fuel mileage by about 1.5-2mpg (So says a thing I read in a mag once) but it does stop you from getting pulled over for having your tailgate down.

Here is another study I just looked up.

According a study conducted by Western New England College's Department of Mechanical Engineers, "The best way to reduce drag, and improve gas mileage for pickup trucks, is to add a tonneau cover." Their study yielded gas mileage savings of 8% by adding a tonneau cover to a Dodge Ram.

But thats no fun...Thats why I dont bitch about gas mileage...If I want gas mileage I would have got a 4banger...but the bed cover does stop people from breaking in my truck and stealing my gas.

I don't bitch about gas mileage because I get great gas mileage! What kind of cover do you have? I have a hard cover. I love it because it's basically a huge trunk.

I got a hard cover too, fiberglass...The ony bad thing is since I dont have a speakerbox in my cutout yet, shit always goes back into my bed when I take off...My CD case especially. So then I got to get out, unlock it, throw my CD case up front and do it all over again...you'd think i would learn.

Just put the gate up. If you do that because you think it'll help gas mileage, it doesn't.

Didn't someone from Arizona just post something about getting pulled over because his ball hitch on the bumper was blocking the plate? That's all getting a little bit silly.

haha I bought a ball hitch even tho I never tow anything for that purpose. if you get photo radared here and anythings blocking you from viewing the plate clearly the ticket is void. good thing the cop didnt say anything about that or i would have turned into a smart ass

I know here in Ontario, they now made it illegal to keep a ball receiver in the hitch when not in use here...

The rumors are so that ppl in parking lots dont hit them(what are they doing walking that close to my tuck... they deserve it lol) or for ppl hitting you from behind(again, why are you so close... you might deserve it)

I guess I would have been trouble yesterday. I bought 23 8ft landscape timbers. But I could see not having the tailgate down without weight on it. It bounces up and down could break off and you have tailgate in the street. Thats what I would think. I could also understand not having something in the reciever. Some of the stuff hangs off a good 3 feet.

haha, ive seen it happen, some dude rearended me in my 83 suburban on 38's when i had my pintle on the back of it, it actually ripped the head off his engine

On the roof. I am shocked no one else pulled you for it. I got pulled for that in NY, PA, OH and MA.
