Ignition timing detonation?

This is final 4891 again and i probably have a very dumb question to ask but could anyone possibly tell me if there is any other factor that can cause detonation other than ignition timing? Because theoretically speaking if my ignition timing is not set exactly at 10 degrees before top dead center and I have made too many changes from my computer to keep up and my throat position sensor is bad is there any way that any of that other stuff actually cause my truck to experience detonation?

Yes.

Carbon buildup on the pistons, failing/failed EGR valve, incorrect spark plugs (heat range), poor quality fuel...

Wheres your timing at? What year/engine is the truck? Are you setting base timing with the SPOUT removed and engine warmed up?
