ignition stuff

ya some of the colors were a little bit off but i used a lil common sense and sure enough she just cranked. I can't turn it over till tomoro as i can't wake the family but i have high hopes. it finally turns and everything. Tomoro i will do the things to the carb you were saying prime it up and try to crank it all the way over after checking for spark.

the black orange goes from the battery or pos side of solenoid does it have a large connector on the end of it. disconnect the battery negative first when messing with power

Well just be careful to check for spark you can put a plug in the coil wire from the distributor and ground it while you crank it I will check back tomorrow.

they were backwards but i used comon sense..figured them out. it all seems to work just fine. tomoro i can try to check for spark and crank it over after doing those things to the carb thank you for all of the help!

ok i have no spark. the wire colors aren't quite the same as the write up. i have, in order: white, red, grey with green stripe, light green, purple, and orangeish. out of the distrib the colors are orange, black and some almost.. peach color.

I`m sorry you said it had the duraspark distributor with three wires coming out right you need to hook those three wires to the duraspark module if you look in the tech library under duraspark you will see the pics of the parts three wires from the distributor to the ignition module two wires from the ignition switch to the module and one wire from the module to the ground green on the coil. thats it other than the water temp oil pressure and alternator 10 wires total the rest of the harness goes away.

Should be orange black and purple out of the distributor. Maybe someone messed up the purple one and replaced it I dunno.

The other wires you don't need. You want a red w/ light green stripe for the + on the coil. Then green wire on the module goes to the - on the coil.

The power wires for the module are red and white. There is a red with white stripe I wanna say that plugs to the white wire on the module, then a white wire that plugs to the red wire on the module. The two wires you needs should be right together in a 2 wire connector. The only wire from the large grey connector you needs is that red with green stripe that is power for the coil.

Plug the orange and black from the dizzy into the corresponding wires on the module, then try plugging that other wire into the purple on the module. Module doesn't need a hard ground I have mine mounted to the plastic fender liner and it works fine.

Do you have aim messenger or yahoo messinger my handle is kimcrwbr1 I can send pics easier thru email also photo bucket dont work on AOL

i have msn messenger..i think its compatible. its kegs@live.com and thats how i get email to. see thats part of the problem..the wire colors aren't right.

the grey 8 wire connector for the computer can still be used just strip the tape and plastic off it back to the alternator you will only need to cut a couple of wires off the connector find the wires to the water temp red/ wht, oil pressure wht/red, and the alternator org/lt blu keep the coil connected but splice the green wire to the module green

I would like to help you but if you cant respond quicker I have other stuff i can be doing.

Any way disconnect the battery and make sure the wiring is right before you power it up GL
