I bought a 95 ranger XLT

the engine idled too low

I replaced the air filter

bought MAF sensor cleaner, and cleaned the MAF Sensor,
IT WAS INCREDIBELY DIRTY BEFORE I CLEANED IT

that seemed to help alittle, bit still idled low

So, I then took off 4 screws and took off the THROTTLE BODY, and cleaned the throttle body

IT WAS SO DIRTY, IT WAS CAKED WITH DIRT

i cleaned it and the IACV sensor

now the engine idles TOO HIGH

the gasket that connects the throttle body to the engine is torn, noticed when i took it off, could that be allowing too much airflow?

did I damage the IACV sensor? I cleaned it with throttle body cleaner, and did not touch it.

what should i do next?

A torn TB gasket will not help matters, for sure. However the engine learns idle over time, And it adjusts itself over time as all that crap that you cleaned off the IAC and throttle plate build up.

Replace your TB gasket, then disconnect the battery over night and try again in the morning.
