ideas on 91 f150 4x4

New to this whole pre runner thing but i have a question. No i dont have a desert to go to...but i have miles and miles and miles of dirt (no gravel) roads. Im wanting to do a budget build of my single cab short bed 4x4. It has a 300 six and a 4 speed. (Built and 5 speed swap before too long. Whats an easy budget way to get into pre runner mods and such? And ideas on where to start?
