Again today I saw an add for chevy trucks ol' Howie was making fun of a guy using the f150 tailgate step. Implying that real men didn't need a step to get into and out of the bed of the trucks. I have 2 deployments to Iraq and one to Bosina. with over 14.5 years of military service. Plus I am a correctional officer for the state of washington. I have been blown up shot at and if I don't get called a racial slur at least once a week I don't feel like I am doing my job. (My personnel favorite was when white supremist called me a nazi.) When I replace my ranger it will be with a full size truck I need a little bit more hauling, towing, and space for my dogs. I am looking forward to the "man step". Chevy is trying to toughen their image, the problem as I see it is that they are more car then truck... Maybe I am just getting fired up over nothing, but I really do hate gm more then ever.

You are getting worked up for nothing.

Chevys don't need the steps because they're already low enough to the ground that my decrepit grandmother could get in and out of the bed with ease.

Fords are a lot higher stock.

Hell, the tailgate of my ranger is higher up than my dad's z71... and my ranger has much more clearance too.

So what you are really saying is some Wall to Wall Counselling for the GM Executives might be in order

I think you mean ..."Put in front of a wall and shot".
Just my .02.

that's because the crappy ass chevy IFS is already sagged to the bump stops from the factory...

Wow, how often are you in/out of the bed of your truck? I rarely crawl into my truck bed.

I love those steps! Frankly, if you are using a truck to move anything like furniture that step is great!!!!

Howie on the other hand is terrible. I didn't like Chevy before they brought him in. I most certainly won't buy from them now that he is their spokesman.

You are just getting worked up over nothing man.

I was at the local drag strip over the summer and drove a lifted super duty there that had the step. I backed it between a dodge truck and a chevy truck and busted out the tailgate step and people in both trucks made comments on how they wanted one for their truck. one guy even asked to try it out. their commercials may say one thing but actual people think different

I think I was getting worked up, I blame getting that mad on the flu, it is not true but it is at least something to blame it on.

I use my truck as a truck. I am stuck in remodel hell and my wife's monster garden both require me to make a lot of runs to the dump or garden centers and of course home depot and other lumber supply type stores. The best decision I have made is putting 10 ply tires on. That way when I fry my rear axle at least the tires will hold up the bed of the truck.

i think that chevy is over rated on everything. i cant stand those square fender wells they dont look good at all. i think the tail gate step is a great idea its very helpful. i bet howie hasnt even tried the tail gate step it might seem like a stupid idea at first but if you use the bed alot

It would also be great for mardi gras! I can't count the number of times I saw a drunk person fall out of a truck bed.

You're right. Mike Rowe's a MUCH better spokesperson.

I wonder when Ford will make a "Dirty Jobs" edition F-series? Maybe w/ a "septic tank" air freshener?

The fender wells look horrible on chevy trucks. Thats my part of them I hate most.
