I need help to build my Dana 44 HP.

I’m not an expert but I pretty sure that I got a disk break dana 44 from Jeep Wagoneer 1977 (6x5.5 bolt pattern) with flat top outside knuckles (tube O.D. 2.75 inch) and I got a dana reverse cut from a Bronco 1979 (5x5.5 bolt pattern) (tube O.D. 3 inch).

Both are dismantled now. I removed the tube from the HP dana 44. I’ll retube the HP housing and I’ll reused the inside knuckle of the Bronco with the ouside knuckle of the Wagoneer for High Steer Arms.

I want to keep the 5x5.5 bolt pattern. I thought I’d use the outside knuckle and the spindle from the wagoneer and use the everything else from the Bronco (Brake backing plate, hub, rotor, caliper).

But the spindle for the Wagoneer is very different from the Bronco. The outside shaft of the wagoneer is a bit longer.

I’m not sure what to do.

Can I use the wagoneer spindle with its bearings, the wagoneer outside shaft and brake backing plate and caliper and use the Bronco wheel bearing hub? To do that, I'd bring the hub to a machine shop to be able to put the bigger inside wagoneer bearing.

I'd prefere to use the Bronco brake backing plate and caliper. I guess I can drill the Bronco brake backing plate to match the wagoneer outside knuckle. Can I? Will it work?

Anybody did it? I’d like to save time and money, please let me learn from your experience.

Thanks,
