And yes there is a division in this country, not caused "by" the people, but our leaders that find it easier to push they're agenda when the masses are confused and don't know what to believe. As I get older I find it amazing how the human mind can create so many wonderful things in life, but can also be very very evil.

They want background checks, fine, we now have checks. "But wait, we want background checks on ammunition sales too. And to limit the number of rounds you can have available. And checks if you want to give your kid a gun for Christmas. Oh, and stop saying Christmas, it offends the Muslims and atheists."

On top of these miscreants, we have the most anti-American pResident and Executive branch in history - they make the Carter years look good and that takes some doing. Always stoking the race-relations fires and advancing bullshit BLM/Hands-up don't shoot crap. Race relations in the US are worse now than in the 40s, 50s and 60s. And it's solely the fault of race-hustlers like 0bama, Sharpton, Jackson and Brazile. They empower the Derays and Shaun King/Rachel Dolezals of the world - which is another story unto itself. Pushing stupidity like the OWS movements and Sanctuary cities, screeching for a $15 min wage, equality in outcome, yet saying nothing about the lack of these same SJWs taking advantage of opportunities to advance THEMSELVES to make their lives better - EVERYTHING must be a government handout, because evil Conservatives and 1%ers.

We set on our butts, watched football, drank beer and let it get to the point where there is no fix. Over 50 percent of the people depend on the government for their daily bread. The government has it fixed so that if you do get a job, it will be for less than the handouts. So who wants it to change.

It started with the 17th amendment that gave DC the control over the states they had wanted for just about forever. Then federal income tax sealed the deal. We had a war that made high taxes seem patriotic. So DC now had the money to start giving stuff away.

World competition began increasing and our job numbers decreasing. High wages (unions?) increased the pressure on companies to have fewer employees. So under government pressure collage became almost mandatory if you wanted a good job (that took almost all of those 18 to 22/25 out of the workforce and lowered the unemployment rates). A retirement age of 62/65 took out a lot more. The stats looked really good. But, the total number of jobs available was less and the number continues to fall.

We have a $15 minimum wage being implemented in Seattle. Guess what, in some restaurants tablets are replacing the wait staff. There is a tablet on your table. You order from a tablet, get refills on the tablet, pay on the tablet, tip on it (why tip?). Your food is delivered by someone from the back. You never see a waiter. Those wait people will now be on the handout list. A high minimum wage is only good if you can find a job.

Now, with over 50 percent of the people depending on the government for their lives, slavery is back. This time it is to the government and you will vote as told. And it cannot be changed because there would be riots in the streets by those losing the handouts. There are not enough jobs for all those people getting government assistance.

The handouts will continue and become larger each year because no one getting those handouts will vote for reform. They will vote for those who promise more free stuff (collage??). And the government will borrow to pay for it. Taxes will increase to pay the interest on that loan (not the loan itself). Smart people will figure out how to hide their money. So taxes will increase again and again. This will go on until the whole ponzi scheme falls apart. Ask Britain how it worked out for them when everyone making money moved to a different country!!

Politicians will not/cannot admit to this, they would be hanged from the nearest lamp post (unless they can get the guns before hand, Britain again). That is why both parties are so afraid of outsiders telling the truth.

So I guess I am wrong, there is a fix. The fix will be the total collapse of our economic system. When DC finally runs out of other people's money, creditors (foreign and domestic ) will try to repossess the country, the world will decide the dollar is worthless, the banks will fail and the riots will start, then finally end and then we will get to start over.

We have only ourselves to blame (sitting on our butts, watching football and drinking beer while DC did whatever it wanted). With any luck, it won't happen until I am long gone!!

I wasn't bitching, just putting in my two cents on why stuff is so dicked-up and why it cannot be easily fixed. And why most of us (well half of us) seem to be less happy than in years gone by.

And, just to be fair, I am one of those getting the government payouts: but, I did work for them. Social Security, Military Retirement and Boeing Retirement (paid for working on military contracts for 22 years).

I can agree and attest to this being true...but needed.

Apathy is rooted in frustration and loss of hope against unsurmountable odds...but what most people don't realize is they are not alone and all it takes is one catalyst (or twenty) to spread the word...and arouse the troops...

Jesus recruited his disciples because He knew time was running out and in order to change...the world...He had to have backup...

I have to stop myself from writing the short novel that just about sprang out of my keyboard here...whew!

If that's what you were doing then yeah you have yourself to blame. If however you are, as I suspect, a man with a job who goes to work and earns his pay, then you weren't necessarily neglecting your duties as a citizen. You just never got far enough down the list to reach the bulletpoint that says to get involved in your governance.

The way I figger is that all the people that had real jobs and families to care for were to busy with taking care of themselves to worry about helping all those that figgered to get the gov'ment to give 'em handouts.

It takes one conversation at a time and asking the right questions to get the correct firing order going again in their minds.
