Just bought this truck and here is the skinny on it. It's previous owner put a 4" body lift on it and the rear tires I'm guessing were rotated from the front. These tires now on the back have erratic wear from worn on the inside to not on the outside. They create a lot of warble and are not able to be balanced. What caused this to happen to them assuming they were in the front. The front were out of balance but have recently been balanced an have corrected a lot of roughness. Could it be related to torsion bars or would it be to bad front end alignment? I know body lifts are never the best thing for your truck.how do you remove it, just pull the blocks and adjust torsion bars? Also what kind of true suspension lift would be compatible with this one? I'm looking to stay within the 2-4" range with 6" being the absolute max. If you have any tips on this truck let me know I'm all ears. I'm not looking to do heavy climbing or missing by the way. Mostly using it for rice paddies, heavy brush and and medium grade mudding. Reason for switching to suspension lift is to be easier on truck frame and smoothness of ride.

It sounds the camber on the front end may be out. Yes removing the body lift is as simple as pulling the blocks out, but you may need to get shorter bolts. You don't need to mess with the torsion bars if you're removing the body lift. Suspension lifts are expensive for IFS trucks ($1500 + new) so cranking torsion bars is your only cheap option.

Your Body Lift will NOT effect your suspension. The previous owner could have turn the t-bar and never aligned the truck, take it to a front-end shop and have them look at it. Your BL is only 3 inch btw.

Bodylifts only come commercially manufactured in 2 or 3" varieties for Rangers.

So chances are the previous owner cranked the torsion bars (without getting an alignment afterwards it sounds) and did t bodylift on top of that.

Take it in for an alignment ASAP.

I'd probably leave the body lift on if you want to keep the current sized tires. It is not affecting ride, handling or alignment.

My dads 98 ranger is the same way, looks like his had the T-bars cranked on his and the inner of the front tires wore out fast after he got it.

Hey thanks guys for all the input. I measured them and yes it is 3". I originally had only eyed them for the height. As for removing the lift and all that the tires are 16's what do you think could fit in there if I kept it? I'm having to get new tires anyway. Any suggestions for budget? I'm looking at spending about 200-240 a tire. Thinking about getting the BF Goodrich A/T

206 a tire bf goodrich all terrain ta ko 265/75/16. Which is Max that will fit on a non lifted ranger. Body or suspension.
I'm slowly building up towards my Dixon bros I want again. But that's 3500 for the lift 1200 for the coilovers, and if I want other parts that are actually recommended I'm looking at 5k just on front end.
It sucks that they don't sell the 1500 dollar kit piece by piece as a cheap option. I know I won't buy because of the rear add a leaf and other stuff I do t want.
If you get a 2wd, 1800 can get you a nice kit from camburg.

And....
You bought this from a dealer or a person? I'd either punch them in the mouth or never go to that dealership again.

I bought it from a dealer. It was 7k below blue book for stuff like that and a tiny bit of hail damage on the hood.

Ohh. Good deal. Not too hard of a fix to replace whole front end for that much of a deal. Pictures!!! Let's see that sexy beast!!!

I'm wanting to find a decently cheap rim and get me some cheaper all terrains and save my bf goodrich's for when I need em.
