Well, the Pro-Comp lift isn't a go anymore. I'm going to do the washer lift. The washers I got are 3.5in OD and 1.5 ID. These are actual measurements. Not nominal. They should work right? And should a 9in bolt be long enough for a 1.5in stack? Or should I go back and get 10in bolts? If that is the case, I will pickup more washers and see if I can attempt a 3in lift. Thanks.

Where did you get the washers? I've been looking for them and can't find them! I'm scribing cause I am goin to domthe same as you just a little differnt, I'm Puttin explorer coils and leafs and 2" washers in front. If I can the exp coils themselves give 2" of lift so Mabey I'll do 1" of washers don't want too much chamber. The leafs on the rear im packing my rangers Helpers into the exp springs for more lift and so
It don't sag when I sit on my tailgate! Lol

I got mine at Fastenal. The only place I could find in my area. The washers were a 3.5in OD and 1.5in ID. The actual inner diameter of those are 1.625in which is barely larger than the required 1.5in and should work from what I have researched. The part # of those washers are 33030. But the bolts I got maybe slightly short, I'm thinking of going back to get a 10in bolt to get me some extra length for a safety margin. Fastenal also gives a student discount, so if you are currently in school, the give you a 15% discount. I found that out yesterday when I was ordering my stuff.

Guys, I wish you would not use washers...that are not really safe. Spacers that are made for your trucks are much better and safer. Go to Ebay...you can find the spacer kits there...or go to a 4x4 shop and they will help you in any way. Nobody I know will ever use washers...they will use a spacer first and all the mags I have read or 4x4 shows that I have viewed say the same thing....don't get cheap to save a few bucks...your safety and somebody else's safety means so much!!!!

I've been convinced that washers are safe, many people use them, I have a friend who's been using them for 2 years now and his truck is still doing fine. So I believe they are safe and a good way to lift your truck on a budget. Just make sure the coil spring nut is tight and it should be ok. And plus you are essentially building a spacer out of steel washers which is more durable than poly or aluminum. I'd rather have a steel spacer than a poly spacer that could crumble and cause issues or an aluminum spacer that could crack and cause issues. If you look at it, a steel washer spacer is more durable than both and I would rather have the more durable of the three. See my way of thinking?

Those poly spacers crumble over time and I know 3 Ppl that have bought them time and time again. Any kind of mod to stock suspension is dangerous says the manufacturer, but I want more travel and less scrubbing! So washers it is.

You can buy 1" - 1.5" ( I think they have 1.5" any way ) solid aluminum front coil spring spacers from Summit for $20 something each.

Figuring out what bolt size you need will probably end up having to be one of those things you just have to wait and find out when your doing the work. Might be worth getting a longer bolt just to have on hand if necessary. My advice though, don't try the 3" spacer lift. It'll be hard as hell to align and cause a lot of wear on other parts.

Well I went back today to get 10in bolts. I also got the correct washers in plain finish. I was going to weld them together and paint them. I got a lot of leftover paint from when I painted my rims so that should suffice. And I'm sticking with the 2.5in lift, that will give me more than what I want.

ive got 10" bolts and a 1.5" spacer, ill take a pic to show you how much thread will be left. and on the note of washers not being safe as spacers, why not? if you can competently weld there should be no reason a stack of steel would be weaker that a polyurethane bushing, especially in something as crucial as the only anchor point for the coil spring.

yep, i had planned on making the stacks 1-3/4 - 2" tall, but when i split the box of washers in half and started stacking them so they were even (of course they werent all the same thickness, that would be too easy) and i ended up with 2 stacks that were just over 1-1/2" tall. it would have sat level but the extra weight of my roll bar and rear bumper with tire carrier made it a little too heavy in the rear and i ended up with negative rake. i put belltechs out back to try to level the truck back out and it did, but now that ive got the roll bar removed ive got a positive rake again. i just cant win (but im still trying!!)
