My credo
Be patient and use a torque wrench when called for.
The early XLT/STX Rangers and XLT/EB BIIs came with a nice looking set of wheels. I'm looking for the center hub cap for my BII. Two would be great, three even better.

I moved this to parts wanted forum...

@Rick W may have these

I’ve got some like that, but mine have the flange that go around the lug nuts. They look like an old Fred Astaire top hat. I don’t remember that that centerpiece comes apart.

Having said that, I’ll take a look when I go walk Lincoln. I want some in a spare or two for the Road ‘Raith casket kitchen, but if I have spares after that, you are welcome to them.

I’ll go out later when I walk Lincoln and see what I’ve got, and send you all a picture or two.

roughly what year model are your trucks? I think the hubs I have were from the 80s or early 90s. But I’ll look.

All I have are these, not the same thing. When I realized they were different, I didn’t count how many I had. If you think they’ll work, I can tell you what I’ve got tomorrow and give you another picture.

some cleaner and some are rougher

The only other thought, on my vintage, 87 and 97, if you have four-wheel-drive, the back looks something like yours or mine in these pictures, but the front are bigger and they are hollow to access the little bar you use to engage the four-wheel-drive. The Hobbs in these pictures are painted with that little circle, and cross symbol, which mimics the look of the front manual hubs.

Afterthought, that might not be correct on the newer models with the automatic hubs.

These wheels are on all my Broncos. My 86 (pictured) is full auto. Look at the rear wheel. That is where the hub cup goes. It snaps into place. I need 2 possibly 3 of these. Chrisstev sent me to brucetravis so maybe he has a few.

Unless your truck is 2wd you won't really NEED more than two.

They are hard to find, if you find three a spare or two wouldn't be bad to have.

True that Justin. I want one for the spare on the back. I can't find a wheel cover to fit even 235/75/15 tires.

Let me start by saying I am far from an expert on these ranges compared to a lot of other guys on this site. I am a master at scavenging marketplace and Craigslist and who knows what else to find what I need.

Those wheels don’t look like the gen one wheels, but I may be wrong on that. If I’m right, find out what year or years where those wheels were used. I really don’t recognize them, are you sure they are Ranger wheels? Could they be Jeep wheels?

Anyway, anyway, my point is if you identify what make and model and year the wheels are, and then you do searches on eBay, on craigslist, and marketplace, you can probably find some sooner or later. I wanted particular center caps for my Road Ranger project. Including the trailers, I needed like 30 of them I looked, and looked, and looked, and barely found one or two, then in a short period of time, I picked up about 15 of them. Around here if you can find them, they’re only like four dollars each, so I’m still picking up spares.

Maybe one of these other guys can tell you what year and model truck that your wheels came from.

One other thought. Measur the size of the hole that those center caps snap in to. You have to measure it pretty precisely. Then look for center caps for that diameter hole. They may be chrome, or black, and not look exactly the same, but there are a lot of aftermarket center caps that snap in like that. Again, measure the whole precisely, because there are three sizes that are about 1/8 of an inch in diameter apart if you get something like that, and you have the slightest doubt, I put some E 6000, a.k.a. goop, just a tiny bit where you can’t see it, but where it will still hold it to the rim. Then they don’t fly off. If you want to get them off, it’s still very easy to remove them.

I’m long winded, but I don’t know what else to say. If I can help you let me know. If you can let me know the year model, etc., I can add it to my list when I look around craigslist and marketplace around here in Atlanta

Good luck

These are on Bronco II XLT/XLS/EB and Ranger XLT/XTS from 85-89. You could order them from the dealer as an upgrade over the steelies. I'm no expert either but this I now as fact. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Nelson

I looked on wheel-size.com for the center bore diameter of your wheels. It looks like all the wheels with that appearance were 70.6 mm or 2.78 inches.

I found these:

I suspect these might work “as is,” or, you might need to use a rotary sander drum to open up your wheel bore or chamfer the hub. That’s tiny. It doesn’t say what the inside diameter of those caps are, but that is probably also tiny.

If you just want nice looking center caps, these might work for not many dollars.

If you want something that looks like the original, you could paint them black, and if you look online on eBay, I’ll bet you can get stickers that match the originals. They would look at teeny bit different.

I realize to some of you guys that’s blasphemy, hey, I paint my trucks rustoleum, and all I get is compliments. You would know it’s not “right,” but I doubt anybody else on earth would ever notice (except these guys).

My two cents, just trying to help. You may be able to find cylinder shape push through caps, the same diameter, which would be very close.

I searched “2.75 inch push through center cap“

EDIT: You could probably get some TRS stickers for the center, or a picture of your mother-in-law, or me, or whatever you might want to put in there a little bit custom

Thanks for the lead. BTW, you're a funny guy! Mother in law's image! LOL!
