I’m trying to remove the 8mm bolt on the AC pulley so I can can change the bearing. But the clutching/ coverplate just spins, there’s no way to keep it from spinning that I can find.

is there a way to lock it or does anyone know a way to get something on there to keep it from spinning?

Any help is appreciated, I need this truck to get to work Mon.

Use a spanned wrench to hold the plate... sometimes maybe even a screw driver between a couple nubs will do the trick.

I'm sure you could find a youtube video on this very subject.

mine doesn’t look like that, it’s a flat plate with holes in it. I’ve found plenty of videos on how to remove the hub with the triangle/nubs, you just wedge a screwdriver in there.

mine is flat with holes in the surface. I imagine there’s some specialty tool. I’m trying to find out if anyone knows a way to hold it with basic tools.

at this point I’m probably just going to buy a pulley bypass and just get rid of the compressor. I don’t use the AC anyway.

thanks for the reply.

That's where you use a spanner wrench....

You may be able to borrow/rent one from the auto parts store.

That’s the cover I’m trying to remove. There’s no way to brace
It or hold it so you can remove the bolt.

That spanner wrench is $5.99 at harbor freight.
