alright so heres the thing. i was planning on using the stock hood on my 85 project. but after stripping the paint i found it rotted beyond repair. so my question is does anyone know where i can get a cowl hood for a good price and how close is the fit on the 3rd gen hoods to the first gen hoods. thanks in advance for any help

LMC sells hoods. my guess though is that it wouldnt be cheap.

yea they do but they arnt the best on price. i was keeping them on the back burner for a last resort. i was also hoping to go with a cowl induction hood seein as the stock one is junk

Here's what you should do. Buy one of those cheap ($50-70) hood cowls, either the stick on kind or the mold on kind. Then, purchase a used rust free hood for your truck. Cut a section of the hood out, and rivet the cowl down to the hood. Buy some fiberglass or bondo, and smooth it out nice. Paint it your trucks color and your all set.

A member on here did that.. I'll see if I can find his thread.

Oh, and a 3rd gen hood wont fit. A 2nd MIGHT, but not a 3rd.

search the internet, there places besides well-known companies that sell fiberglass hoods..

i was hoping to keep it a steel hood, and i was thinking about doin it urban rednecks way.

the thing is that i like the dominator look more

For a '85 you will need a hood that will fit a Ranger or Bronco II from 83-88, or the first generation. Any other year or model will not fit.

I want a small fiberglass cowl induction hood for mine just so I don't have to worry about dents...

yea but the thing with glass hoods is that unless you buy a cheaper one, they need a ton of work out of the box, where a good quality glass hood or a steel hood is pretty much paint ready out of the box.
